I wanted a different look for my Praetorian Guard, so built this as their main battle tank. A combination of a British Mark I tank, the turret from a Leman Russ, and with Rogue Trader Janus Draik as its aristocratic commander. #Nerdlings #JHBackdrops #ImperialGuard

Painted up the ‘Not a Kobold’ mini I got from Blightbones at Spru. Experimented with drybrushing blue over purple to get some interesting undertones. Pretty happy with it but definitely room for improvement. 61st mini painted in 2026.

A large red scratch built Grot Tank with a huge green goblin head for the turret. The tanks barrel is sticking out in place of it's nose and a large blue hat can be seen on top. The hat has a hinge near the top where the tip is opened up revealing a Grot with a large machine gun. On top of the hat is a Git holding on for dear life with a large artillery shell on top of it's head.

The tank is covered with many other Grots and Gitz. Some riding on the end of the barrel, others sticking out the aides of the tank with a variety of weapons. One is even hanging from the large ear of the goblin turret head. Two large boosters can be seen on the back of the tank. The whole thing is heavily weathered with chipping and rustball over.

A scratch-built Baneblade made from crafting wood, other wood, cardstock, receipt cores, foamcore, pressboard, and white glue. It sports a desert yellow and brown camo job done in abstract geometric stripes. Main barrel, sponson guns and upper sponson turrets are all laser weapons. Forward hull gun is a light autocannon. From the hatches on the turret can be seen an officer with a laspistol raised and a pintle gunner operating a twin bolter. While a scattering of pieces are recognizably 40k product, none of them came from an actual baneblade kit; they are dregs of Razorback and Leman Russ kits.

Command Razorback Auliya of the Arrakeen Jihad, a Space Marine Raxorback for the Black Templars chapter, built to 3rd Edition Warhammer 40,000 rules with a lascannon and twin-linked plasma guns; pictured here rearing out of the sands of Rakis, the desert planet where the Arrakeen recruits most of its Neophytes from the roaming Zensunni desert-dwellers of the Bedwine (known to the Imperial administration as the Fremen).

The hardest part of the conversion was the turret; the moulded-in Sister of Battle was removed and replaced with a Space Marine gunner. The turret sides had to be cut away and the turret enlarged to fit the Space Marine's wider shoulders and the weapons themselves were converted to fit the Space Marine loadout; the Exorcist can't take lascannons or twin plasma guns and doesn't come with them as options.

The extra armour kit was made from corrugated cardboard and initially glued on with PVA to provide a flat non-porous contact surface, then peeled off and reattached with superglue.

-Space Marine Terminator sprue - 2x Crux Terminatus on rear door, scroll hangers
-Chaos Marine Vehicle Accessory Sprue - spiked iron halo
-Cardboard box (150gsm board, C-flute corrugated) - Extra Armour kit
-Space Marine Rhino - headlight - used as searchlight to accompany multi-melta

What are your thoughts on the 1999 Striking Scorpions? I love the curled helmet design but the actual poses are kind of goofy. I prefer the earlier scorpions, in truth. But I'll get these painted. Bonus 1993 exarch to go with these guys.

More 2nd edition was played this weekend, with the Imperial Guard taking their turn to feel the wrath of my Cult. We played the Tyranid Attack mission and gave the Guard some sturdy defences, but this wasn't enough to save them from the Cults many grasping arms. #Oldhammer #Warhammer40k #Nerdlings

Some brightly coloured alien miniatures advance across a lurid battlefield of ruins and skull shaped idols.

The soldiers of the Imperial Guard wait patiently in their defences, anticipating the inevitable attack.

A Cult landspeeder, supported by a small squad of infantry, banks round some ruins to flank the defenders and open fire on their flank.

On the right flank the Cults tank and infantry advances through the ruins, whilst on the main command bunker the patriarch and his brood step out of a warp portal to tear the Imperial commander in to soggy confetti.
