Enjoys ambles around my neighbourhood, nature and taking bad photos of what I see on route. Dabbles in baking and as a woman of a certain rage, really wishes I could remember what I had walked into the next room for!

On the land adjacent to Geldeston church stands a magnificent sweet chestnut tree. Standing underneath its canopy yesterday in the warm sunshine, this old, steady, and deeply rooted beauty, sharing space with a bug or two certainly puts life into perspective #wildwebswednesday

As the summer moves on, #WildflowerHour in my area is getting trickier by the week. One week late for the daisy challenge but I did spot one actual daisy and common fleabane in the dip under the trees on the edge of the arid grassland of North Suffolk

A few butterflies from #bigbutterflycount in my corner of Suffolk. Amazing amount of Small Heath butterflies at Ilketshall St Andrew Common & an oasis of flowers on the edge of the marshes at Shipmeadow was providing a feast for a number of other butterflies. #butterflies @bc-suffolk.bsky.social

Came across 5 beautiful Painted Lady butterflies on the edge of the local marshland today at Shipmeadow. The only place that has an abundance of flowers still alive in our parched Suffolk landscape #butterflies @bc-suffolk.bsky.social

I believe this is an acorn weevil. We have a large oak tree at the top of the garden where I should imagine it normally hangs out. However, this one was visiting the greenhouse #InsectThursday

Out for a walk earlier & came across an oak tree with just the one leaf heaving with caterpillars. A bit of research & I think they might be Buff Tip moth caterpillars which apparently group together on deciduous trees. Hope someone can confirm the caterpillar type please #MothsMatter #TeamMoth

From the watery ditches of Norfolk, blue water speedwell and if ID is correct, lesser water parsnip. Not sure if they are classed as totally #AquaticPlants or more riparian but in this occasion they both had there roots and I had a slightly damp foot from being firmly in the water #wildflowerhour

Today is my birthday & I received two lovely books from my husband ordered from NHBS. We don’t do wrapping paper & the parcel was handed to me unopened I’m not sure if the beetle came free with the books or it was just a coincidence after I opened the box I suddenly found the critter crawling on me

Technically I think this is classed as a scrambling shrub rather than a true climbing plant due to thorns not tendrils to help it head upwards. That aside the bramble flowers are stunning in my local hedgerows at the moment. I’m amazed to learn that there’s 350+ named micro species #WildFlowerHour
