the problem in the uk is the media. im gonna keep saying it until the day i die. everything that is wrong in the uk can be traced back to our media. it’s non-stop, far right, propaganda from the guardian to the times to the mail to the bbc. the only thing that changes is the branding.

The dialectical materialist position on disposable barbecues is that banning them is good, but *only* banning them and not investing in parks infrastructure to provide appropriate areas including free-to-use barbecue pits, picnic benches and accessible public toilets is bad.

All I’ll say about this COVID revisionism from The Sensibles is they conveniently forget 227’000+ died in the UK. Every iota of that statistic was someone with family, friends, dreams, and a life (no matter how long or short) abruptly ended due to shocking incompetence and corruption from the state

Literally the whole project has been to delay, prevent and blunt state action on climate change that might impinge on the profits of fossil fuel corporations. In a very real sense, they are the direct enemy of all humankind.

burnham is just words. 🙄 if you look at what he’s actually doing, and ignore what he’s saying, it’s shit like letting trump use our bases, pouring billions in to trident, attacking welfare claimants, promoting ai, no rent controls, attacking disabled & trans ppl, pushing racist immigration policy.

Burnham's comments today were a kind of anti-populism: a rejection of easy answers, an acknowledgment of trade-offs and a commitment to solve seemingly-intractable problems. Early days,
but incredibly refreshing.

Seemingly deleted.
Screenshot of a seemingly deleted post from LBC that states "the reason we go on holiday to those places is partly because of the climate. And that climate is now increasingly common here." James O'Brien sees both 'a silver lining' and 'catastrophic' side to the hotter weather. In the linked clip, James O'Brien noted that the heatwaves decimating Europe, impacting food security and killing people with heat and fires is bad, but also it is nice to eat in the garden.

Manchesterism? This is Burnham's legacy: ✅ Soaring rents ✅ Rising homelessness ✅ Bigger profits for developers Our city-region doesn’t need more of the same.
A black and white photo of Andy Burnham shrugging with raised hands. Slogan at the top that reads "real hope real change". Core messaging on the graphic is Manchesterism: Burnham's legacy with the green party logo and imprint at the bottom of the imageGreen background with text that reads "Manchesterism: Burnham's Legacy - Lining Developers' pockets. Andy Burnham handed nearly £1 billion in public funding to private developers yet only 500 of 11,000 homes (4.5%) built through the Greater Manchester Housing Investment Loan Fund were affordable. 60% of the funding went to a single developer, Renaker, which has not built a single affordable home."Green background with writing that reads: "Manchesterism: Burnham's legacy. Rents Soaring. Meanwhile, renting in Manchester now takes up 44% of the average salary, up from 39% in 2016. No other council area in Engalnd and Wales has seen a bigger decrease in affordability than Salford over the last ten years" With a green arrow pointing upwards to illustrate rising rentsGreen background with text that reads: "Manchesterism: Burnham's legacy. Homelessness Rising. More than 6,000 households are in temporary accomodation across Greater Manchester, including 2,800 in Manchester - the highest in the North West. All 10 boroughs are among the region's 13 worst-affected areas. There is a big image of a house with a cross through it to illustrate the homelessness issue in Greater Manchester under Andy Burnham.

A post by pjharvey on Tumblr saying:

i don’t understand how neil gaiman intellectual properties still trend on here so regularly he literally trafficked women. like it’s not even a discourse thing or a “he’s problematic” thing he was “cancelled” for human trafficking. he repeatedly isolated women, usually his or his ex-wife’s fans, with no support system for the purpose of raping them while they were dependent on him for income and housing. that’s human trafficking

This is praxis. One Reform councillor already stepped down because he was too lazy to even *start* doing the job. I don't doubt you can get rid of a fuckton of them just by requiring them to do the public service that being a local councillor actually is.

Being an MP involves having to be around in the evening to do nothing more than traipse through a room at random intervals. They've often been working since early that morning (ministers especially). The evenings aren't comparable to normal work because it's not comparable to a normal job.
