Don't really understand what the battle is supposed to be here. As far as I can tell people still buy and learn and record and listen to instruments. And more importantly, music isn't about just how it sounds, it's about a connection to the human making it. Too much generation and you sever that.

like I suspect many of you on This Website, I think a core reason why I find Eliezer Yudkowsky and his rationalist and effective altruist satellites so intensely annoying is because I had a VERY similar “being a super weird, pretentious, hyper-literate kid” experience - I just, you know, grew up.

Very forceful statement by Terry Tao about AI and math. terrytao.wordpress.com/2026/09/11/a... Note, he is not claiming the models aren't real and powerful. He's talking about how that power should be used. This, I believe, is what all AI discussions should center.

Anyone else find it concerning that the CTO of this website just had an insane crashout about "anti-ai people" or is it just me
Paul Frazee

we just want people who don't want to use ai to stop harassing us. it's not a complicated ask

GLITTERING CAMILLE

I think if this is the ask then these tortured metaphors are not really even in the ballpark of expressing it, because the message that comes across is just smug and truculent

if someone is an asshole to you -- well, you're an adult. at some point someone has to say 'well, this hurt and anger stops with me' and stop simply behaving the way they think they've earned an excuse to

Paul Frazee

that's abuser logicDevin Spikowski

You just called me delusional, or a liar. Is harassing really the problem, because it sure sounds like you actually have a problem with the very existence of someone who is anti-ai, regardless of how they act about it.

Paul Frazee

wouldnt be beef if anti ai people didnt keep harassing devs

Devin Spikowski

I don't harass or endorse doing so but just to make sure we're on the same page, you don't consider my reply harassment do you?

Paul Frazee

do you have a problem with people trying to set boundaries

Most folks don't realize how central events like J6 were to the Jim Crow state. Dozens of unprosecuted coups & massacres—actively encouraged by those in power—revived the fundamental logic of the pre-emancipation state: that Black Americans had "no rights which the white man was bound to respect."

amazing how the entire machine can pivot within 24 hours. no need to slowly upsell the argument; just issue new marching orders
Matt Walsh tweeted last year: "We've spent the last 25 years bringing "freedom" and "democracy" to countries around the globe while our own country has been systematically invaded and now our largest cities are run by foreigners and communists. If you want to know why I'm so avowedly non-interventionist, this is why."

Then he tweeted today: ""This is a war for oil!!!!!"

First of all, the "war" lasted like 90 minutes. Second, going to war to secure vital resources for your own people is totally legitimate. Why should we allow some third world communist shithole to control trillions of dollars worth of oil?"Laura Loomer tweeted last year: "I’m America First, I don’t support “Regime Change”. I went on @Bannons_WarRoom to talk about Chinese aggression in Venezuela and why we need to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign Islamic terrorist organization."

Then she tweeted yesterday: "Maduro has arrived at the DEA office in Manhattan. He was transported in an armored motorcade after being transported in a blindfold via helicopter & then by plane to New York after his compound in Caracas was raided by US Special Forces.

Proud to be an American today!

USA 🇺🇸"Catturd tweeted last year: "Name one U.S. inspired regime change that hasn’t ended in absolute disaster."

Then he tweeted yesterday: "Venezuela is now more free than New York City."Will Chamberlain tweeted last year: "The Republican Party is no longer the party of regime change and endless wars

If you want to be its standard-bearer that is a non-negotiable position"

Then he tweeted yesterday: "I can think of few better uses of my tax dollars than black-bagging the head of a foreign narco-trafficking organization that enriches itself by addicting and poisoning my fellow Americans"

The theory of power that says conservatives as a whole, and young right-wing men in particular, are victims repressed by the left-wing forces dominating society is, in a word, insane. It cannot possibly be addressed, because it's not true. It's just rationalization for hatred and hurting others.

A message to people whose cynicism has gotten the best of them: Data from KFF Health News illustrating how successful lawsuits have spared the blue states from a great deal of the blow to public health infrastructure funding. Red states sat back and are now royally screwed.
Red states hit hardest by cdc grant terminations
before democratic-led jurisdictions filed lawsuits in april to retain their centers for disease control and prevention grants, terminations more closely resembled the distribution of cdc funding across the nation. after injunctions were issued in may and june, red states lost a greater share of public health infrastructure funding and support.
