Okay but the Carney government also awarded American-owned Ford $464M to make trucks in Oakville and The Canadian Press never reported on those funds as a “handout” to keep it “afloat”.

In 1992, Alberta had 11,700 hospital beds. Today we have 8800 beds and double the population (h/t Charles Adler for the data), but apparently, the Alberta govt is not the problem. Danielle Smith is lying to us. #abpoli #ableg

When I step into Alberta classrooms and see immigrant and refugee children excited to learn, and teachers inspired to teach, I see my mother’s mischievous grin and feel her fierce curiosity. May Albertans never lose the compassion and common sense that makes public education a public good.

By using the notwithstanding clause pre-emptively - which, again, they *can* but *need not* do - the UCP is not simply admitting that their laws are breaching Charter rights and bypassing the courts. They are further admitting that their laws cannot be justified in a free and democratic society.

I called on the 🇨🇦 govt to guarantee, no-cost access to COVID-19 vaccines, including for every child under 12. Under the Canada Health Act, every Canadian deserves equal access to care no matter where they live, or how badly their provincial gov’t ignores science, health guidelines & their citizens.

Let's be clear: three of the four books flagged by the Alberta government today as containing "inappropriate content" feature queer and trans people. This is moral panic. This is the same blueprint of book bans in the US. And this is happening in Canada. calgaryherald.com/news/local-n...
