I was working with JJ on a project after he moved to IA. Hearing what he'd been through at IL, then watching IA perpetuate the pain and make it worse was heartrending. Academic institutions need to think hard about their decision to follow business models of employment. We're losing excellent folks.

Just last week, a few of my colleagues were up in arms about those of us who (occasionally) work from home. For no other reason, read about JJ and his fight for accomodations in the library workplace. I met JJ a few times, at MLA-related events. Our world is lesser without him in it.

My friend Jane Doe made this zine to document their shitty experience with campus police after they were doxxed. archive.org/details/ftp-... Please read and distribute. And don't trust the cops--any of them. The part I highlighted on page three makes me 🤯
zine cover, which reads

FTP
includes
university
policescreenshot of page three:

Wanting there to be a record in
case the harassment escalated,
I reported the doxing to the
university police.**
** In the process, I got to experience
what any other victim/survivor would face
reporting a crime to university police.
[this part highlighted] Upon entering the university police
department’s brand new building, you are
confronted with a mirrored window. You are
observed by unknown people and you can see
only yourself reflected back. A voice
rings out from the ether: “what are you
here for?” You are expected to tell the
mirrored window what happened to you. [end highlighting] Only
then will a human possibly come out and
speak with you.

The new antidepressant has been kicking in, so I no longer feel suicidal at all times, just the normal amount. It's been a long year of misery, but maybe I don't have to suffer quite as much now. Here's a nice street in Northampton.
A lovely street with large trees that have yellow and green leaves. Outdoor restaurant tables line the foreground.
