I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

"The real trouble with us professors was that we were absorbed in our day-to-day tasks. Most of us can say with some justice that we were good workmen. Is it equally true to say that we were good citizens?" Marc Bloch, 1940.
The movements of the Stock Exchange vary according as the fluctuation of current prices are or are not known to the aggregate of shareholders. But of what is the general mind composed if not of a multitude of individual minds which continually act and react upon one another? For a man to form a clear idea of the needs of society and to make an effort to spread his views widely is to introduce a grain of leaven into the general mentality.
By so doing he gives himself a chance to modify it to some small extent, and, consequently, to bring some influence to bear upon the course of events which, in the last analysis, are dictated by human psychology. The real trouble with us professors was that. we were absorbed in our day-to-day tasks. Most of us can say with some justice that we were good workmen. Is it equally true to say that we were good citizens?

There are 24 chapters in “Karoline von Günderrode: Philosophical Writings,” each including a translation of one (or more!) of Günderrode’s most fascinating works + a short intro highlighting her philosophical claims. Ch 22 has Günderrode’s notes on Hemsterhuis: Buy here: academic.oup.com/book/62113
Chapter abstract titled "Chapter 22 Notes on Hemsterhuis," reading: "Günderrode’s notes on Hemsterhuis’ Simon, or the Faculties of the Soul capture the central philosophical claims of this dialogue, including Hemsterhuis’ outline of the human faculties of will, imagination, intellect, and the “moral organ,” his account of the origins of these faculties, his close association of the moral organ with love, and his view of the moral perfectibility of human nature. The introduction briefly explains these ideas and draws out their connections to important concepts in Günderrode’s philosophy, especially her notion of the “inner sense” and her claims regarding the possibility of experiencing revelations by following an “inward path.” "
