I went to a small liberal arts college so Greek life was sparse but I remember there was one frat whose parties we attended and were filled with normal guys, and the others were chodes who were either business or communications majors.

I have been reading this book by Oscar Wilde's grandson about his family and the legacy of Wilde. I thought it would be interesting, but it's mostly about obscure lawsuits. It's had some interesting glimmers which is why I have kept reading, but I can't wait to be done. 🙃

My graduate program was more for working adults. I was in my 20s and most of my cohort were in their 40s. Most were married Looking back, it attracted a lot of people who were in a mid-life crisis. I found out later there were a lot of affairs going on...

I got my masters in May '09 and I know I would not have been able to get through 7 years of college if I had done most of it after the Great Recession. I grieve for the opportunities missed because we aren't funding education the same way.

I really don’t think that’s the case. I do think that probably these people hate femininity, which they see as weakness. But that doesn’t mean that they are secretly gay or trans. And I think that it does damage to insist that they are. Maybe some are, but definitely not all.

I think it’s an oversimplification and makes being gay into a punchline, mostly, but I can’t deny that there are definitely some closeted men in that world. And unfortunately, a lot of self-hating right-wing gay men have done terrible damage to this world. Roy Cohn, Peter Thiel, Sam Altman… ugh.
