This is an important distinction that the headline writers longing to grab your attention aren't making: Elon only has a trillion dollars for the purposes of dodging taxes. Oh, he has access to a lot of funds, certainly. But dubbing him a trillionaire based on stock valuation is nonsensical.

He both does and doesn't have a trillion dollars. The *valuation* of his shares puts his net worth at a trillion dollars, but that valuation can fluctuate (and deflate entirely). This does allow him to take out tax-dodging loans based on said valuation, but he'll never hold a trillion in the bank.

The Tribune Ed Board is (unsurprisingly) both-sidesing the Broadview Six case: - It claims we were violent. (We got hit by a car!) - It asks if the grand jury was “in the tank for the protesters”. - It praises Andrew Boutros for being “a whole lot better” than ICE. You can’t make this shit up.

Was this actually a result not of skepticism about the charges themselves but a consequence of those jurors' fury at the Bovino crew's actions, not to mention Trump's many attacks on our city? Or was it genuine skepticism at bringing a rare federal felony case, which would have required proving that the six were engaged in a corspiracy, against what could reasonably be termed run-of-the-mill political protesting that turned violent mostly because it was being reactive to the aggression of the federal authorities themselves?

In other words, was the grand jury in the tank for the protesters and unwilling to look fairly at their actions or was it aoing its duty to resist a nakedly politicized prosecution, trumped-up charges designed not to dispense justice but to send a political message?
These are not questions often being asked in Chicago media.

That said, reasonable people can smell politics on all sides here. Two things can be true at once: One can righteously protent and still act in a way that merits prosecution. And Boutros is a whole lot better a federal official than those really responsible for setting up what happened in Broadview.
Still. The prosecution failed. Good. It was both poorly handled and never a strong case.

The main issue appears to be that Dragontail gave DoorDash delivery drivers access to real-time status, workflow, and order timing. Chaac alleges that some drivers used that information to wait up to 15 minutes in the restaurant for additional orders, leaving pizzas sitting out after they came out of the oven and resulting in longer delivery times.
