(3/3) seemed to do easily & I had no support in figuring it out. So I wanted to be as open about my experience & eventual diagnosis as is viable, in the hopes that others with similar issues might be able to get help sooner & feel more comfortable talking about their own experiences/struggles.

(2/3) - and I was 37 before I actually got diagnosed with ADHD. Undiagnosed/untreated executive function issues made so much of my teens/early 20s hellish (including a stint of homelessness), particularly because neither I nor my family had any idea *why* I couldn't manage to do what most people -

(1/3) I figured out I was at least one flavor of ND in my early 30s (2018ish) and started identifying as such pretty quickly - I was in the "You're 'a girl' and 'gifted' so obviously everything is fine!" cohort as a youngster, so no one ever even hinted I could have executive function issues -

…because these covers are a microcosm of the entire conflict; Walden's book is mostly built on writing and other objects left by Sylvia Drake, Charity Bryant, and others. Her work includes many elements from these records that Cleves does not refer to in her book, and many of her interpretations of those records are different from Cleves's interpretations, often intentionally so. In addition to her historical basis, Walden's book includes fictional dialogue and story elements that are original to her work, some of which are inspired by Walden's own life.

The only thing I've actually learned in five years of Queer Writing is that there's tremendous pressure on queer writers to produce healthful, positive content and pretend we've got it together, but if you write out all the messy, shitty, un-together stuff, queer readers connect with it 100x more.

This isn't the first time with LAcon, unfortunately - they were caught using genAI "art" on the site a couple months back, it was brought up with them, and con staff responded that it was a mistake and that they had checked the remaining assets from the packages they bought. So frustrating.

The process for these roses is fairly involved and takes multiple days - I use heavy watercolor paper which I cut, paint with layered watercolors on both sides, and then coat with ModPodge for gloss and stability. Once all that's done, the petal rounds are glued to floral wire and shaped!

Eight pieces of paper in the shape of rose petals, painted with watercolors in a dark red-to-orange flame-inspired gradient. These will be shaped and glued together to make a paper rose.
