Private equity moguls and fund managers love it! Once they’re in, they own a piece of a natural monopoly, and they print money for decades. This is a mistake we do not need to make. The alternative to privatizing our airports is to NOT DO IT.

There's a reason previous Liberal governments looked at privatizing airports and didn't go through with it. Private investors don't want a stake in our public assets to make them better. They’re in it to make as much money as possible for themselves - while workers and passengers pay the price.

This is not an argument against democracy, but does illustrate how things can go wrong when you allow your information ecosystem to degrade the way America’s has. Education and information governance are the bedrock of democracy. Without that you get disaster.

I often tell my students that democracy requires an electorate which is intelligent and mature enough, at least collectively, to guide the country towards good policy outcomes. America’s a great example of what can happen when that’s not the case.

I have been laughing at this for ten solid minutes
All right, let me see if I can get at this in a different
way, then. Let's forget about our friend, Mr. LeBlanc, for a minute and assume that somebody is fishing in
Whitefish Bay at a point which is within the reservation
described in Article Third by the Treaty of 1836, but is not within the present day Bay Mills' Indian Reservation.
MR. GREENE: Objection, Counsel, that's
just loaded with legal conclusions about where that
reservation is legally defined.
MR. STEKETEE: I'm not asking her to make
any legal conclusions about where the reservations are
or any of the meaning of it; I'm just asking you to
assume that this is, in fact, the case, okay, that there
is a point in Whitefish Bay that was within a larger
reservation described in Article Third that is no longer
included in the Bay Mills' Reservation. Assume that is a
given fact, okay?
THE WITNESS: No.
