Can’t eat a sandwich until you subscribe to sandwiches. Can’t eat today’s sandwich until it has applied daily sandwich updates. Sandwich now has adverts even though you paid for ad-free sandwich. Can pay again to have less sandwich adverts. Now you can eat the sandwich, but it’s smaller.

Just learning today of the deaths of 2 (very different) musicians who I really enjoyed - Irish singer songwriter Glen Hansard and French DJ Kavinsky. One carried on the wonderful Irish music tradition while the other basically created the synthwave music genre. Both were around my age as well. RIP😢

My oldest kid was prime age for the og Wiggles crew - Jeff, Murray, Greg, Anthony - so I’ll cheat and say those 4. As a parent I really liked them - catchy songs and it didn’t feel like 95% of the other kid programming slop. The Prime Video documentary from a few years ago about them is recommended.

One last comment: the recent trend for me in thumbnails is the text / font. It all looks the same now and it all has that AI sheen to it. If the intent of the creator is to induce a gag reflex, well done I guess, because that is my reaction. Every time. Followed by a sigh and an unsubscribe.

I’ve done the same recently as well. In the toy space, music, ttrpg, video games, you name it - everyone is turning to slop. Solid creators as well. Some I’ve followed almost 10 years, some more recent. It sucks. It has cleaned up my subscription list on YT though - significantly.

What the fuck is it good for? Im asking sincerely. Medical people say its shit for diagnosing, its utter garbage for creative fields, it cannot teach and hallucinates false answers, programmers have to fix its code half the time, businesses find it doesn't help productivity and it causes psychosis.

They're just engagement farmers, not serious contributors to, in this case, "our" hobby, but they exist in every fanbase. I wish there was a solution to them besides ignore, but I know that is easier to do as a viewer than as a content creator like yourself -you are competing against those asshats.
