Does anyone have a standard doc they use when considering signing on to work with an org, that interrogates their policy on their use of GenAI? I’m putting one together, but curious about what other creative folks use. It seems wise to get it straight BEFORE proceeding to any contract negotiations.

Here’s a quick speed-paint of my WOCKS character, to illustrate how I did the art for Searching For Wocks. I use watercolor, gouache and colored pencils. Using all these gave the art a lot of vibrancy and texture, which is perfect for a book about examining and admiring things closely.

This sketchbook comic made my kid laugh harder than anything else I've ever drawn, so I am currently considering it my finest work.
A comic.
“We used to have a smart speaker, but we replaced it with our kid’s Furby.”
(drawing of a furby)

Speech bubble: “Hey Furby, play music by “They Might Be Giants.”
Furby: Lee koo
The furby is wiggling while it replies.“It ran out of batteries a while ago.”
Speech bubble: Ok Furby— What’s the temperature?.. Cold? Yeah.”
The furby is doing nothing.

“Honestly, it works about as well as the robot we used to have,”
(image of furby face close up)
“…AND it doesn’t spy on our conversations to sell our data— BONUS."“I’m thinking of putting it in the window by the door.
(Image of the furby in a window of a front porch)
“(For security)”

“FURB HOME>SMART HOME”
The furby is drawn large with slogans across it’s visage:
“whimsical”
“retro”
“retains vague menace of smart tech but lacks actual menace to spy for govt. and corporations"

"Haunted" #IceOut #IceOutComics
A comic in black/white/blue.
Lucy rolls her bike through an alley, by a crew building a fence.
Narration: My neighbors hired a crew to rebuild their fence.
Crew member: "Do you need us to move our stuff out of the way?"
Lucy: "Oh! No, you're all good, thanks!"
Lucy: "Have a good one!"
Crew member: "You, too!"Narration: I was teaching when my phone started lighting up with alerts from the rapid response network and neighbor chat.
Lucy's back is to us as she shows a group of enthusiastic children something on a notebook. Behind her, her phone in her bag is buzzing.

Narration: By the time the lesson was over, they were already gone.
Lucy is reading messages on her phone.
Messages:
Alert: black SUV
Sighting: be on alert for...
Confirmed abductionL alley between ----- and ----. SUV plates...
We tried to get them inside, but it was too...
...Contacting an I.R. lawyer. Heading to Broadview later today.Lucy is riding her bike home.
Narration: On the ride home, I kept thinking "If I'd been there, could I have warned them? Would my ICIRR* training have helped?"
*Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. Get trained and know your rights at ICIRR.org.

Narration: I'd taken the training after Halloween, when the violent ICE raids had locked down our schools and driven our neighbors indoors.

(Image of a halloween bucket in the shape of a jack-o-lantern)

Narration: Halloween is fun here-- The community filling the streets and opening our doors to one another. But this year's was tense, frightened and subdued. Haunted.
Lucy is standing in the alley, staring at the newly built fence.
Narration: When I got home, it was all done. The other two guys who had gotten inside in time stayed and finished the build.

The new fence is superimposed with the brief exchange from earlier in the comic ("Have a good one" You, too")
Narration: I see it every day and think about how those guys built this in the spot where strangers in masks took their friend.

Narration: How many other places in our communities are similarly haunted?
(Drawings of sidewalks, buildings, streets and windows)

I’m all for this change. But it should have been an open call to the community, initiated months ago. Not 6 days prior. HCD is important to me. I take pains to plan in advance and ensure I have childcare, that I’m not on deadline, and that I can bring together local artists to draw in community.

My kid has this bear that I refer to as “topless bear,” which infuriates my kid because they insist that “it’s wearing a shirt!” So I put it to you: what’s up with this bear?
A stuffed bear with a distinctive area of its torso that is lighter and shorter-furred than the rest of it.Option 1: the bear has been shaved or removed its fur shirt, leaving its torso bare. (Get it?)
(The stuffed bear has had nipples and belly button drawn onto it, digitally)Option 2: the bear is wearing a shirt

(The iconic Milton Glaser “I ❤️ NY” logo has been drawn over the light torso area of the bear)Option 3: the stuffie is actually a human being in a bear costume that is missing the top part.

(A human figure has been drawn over the bear body to indicate where a human figure might inhabit it as a costume)
