So Chris Penk and Chris Bishop couldn't get rid of Chris Luxon. And Chris Hipkins is still less popular than Chris Luxon. It's like all the Chris misses have come at once.

Stoked to see Labour offer a return of a stronger Apprenticeship Boost program, with better support for apprentices. This is contingent on there being the employment & work for them so I hope we see more works & building programs coupled with this.

BOOM! Health researchers at the University of Auckland have suggested a tax on utes in response to high emissions and more deadly accidents. Totally agree. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Researchers call for ute tax, citing burden on health system
They say utes contribute about seven times as much social harm in areas like air pollution, and accidents involving utes are seven times more likely to be fatal.

Things we've done this morning to prepare for this cyclone: ✅ Taken the emergency kit OUT of the depths of the garage and into the living room ✅ Found the camp stove and gas canisters, also also rescued them from the garage ✅ Staked trees, tied up the grape vine, took down the garden arch, etc

I do not understand how the ABSOLUTELY VOLUNTARY destruction of the original ferry replacement is not a massive political scandal?! It was a reflexive ideological decision that has disadvantaged the country significantly.

ok so the doctors visits was already announced and had a follow up 'shitty loans to private GPs' announcement, but where are the big policy headliners for good jobs or affordable homes? or, like these seats, are all three actually pretty absent?

I really wish the left wing parties talking about "free GP appointments" would at least get in touch with the College of Primary Health Care Nurses, because they're really missing a huge part of the problem by only centring GPs in their discussions, policies, and rhetoric.

#NZpol The "go slower" on emergency service buildings sounds off. You’d think emergency service buildings should _always_ be built to higher standards, surely, and be high priority. Likewise for buildings intended as safe havens in times of crisis.

The economy must be going super good when the Reserve Bank Governor and Chair resign within six months of each other, having both conflicted with the Finance Minister over the role of the Reserve Bank and how it is funded to be independent. That's a sign of the recovery being around the corner.

If you're wondering why we in New Zealand should be worried about the IPCA's incredibly ill-conceived 'helpful' suggestions for reforming protest law & requiring pre-approval, the effect of such laws in the UK is exhibit A. Regressive and incompatible with a free society.

Do you know what minimum wage retail jobs need? A high risk expectation from your employer to stop people who *may* be stealing What a cop out that will result in so much violence when ultimately retail theft stems from a cost of living crisis and a lack of support www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

With Brian Tamaki openly admitting he directly instructed his followers to storm the Te Atatu Peninsula Library on Saturday, I will be personally insulted if he isn't charged with inciting riotous behaviour likely to cause violence. He's directly and publicly admitted guilt.

Two attacks, using force (people were injured at the library, "breaking through" police barricades here), against the queer community of Auckland in one day by Destiny. We are owed an explanation as to why there are thus far zero arrests. There may BE a good explanation, but if so we are owed it.
