weirdly as someone who rarely drinks (I just do not like it in general)...some people really get weird about people not drinking. Whereas I've never experienced that with drugs lol. I mean, good point, just a weird observation on my part

It didn't cool off last night. The heat is going to break on Sat. when it will be hot and muggy but in the 80s Also every climate denier should have their a/c taken away.

I have tried explaining what it's like to experience gender the way I do to cis ppl. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. But at the end of the day, ppl don't need to understand. They just need to respect.

Chimps and orangutans are really dexterous with their lips, probably because they have to use their lips and mouth as a carry source because they use their hands for mobility but idk. If you watch some videos of them you'll see they're as good as that if not better so maybe not that. But idk

If you never thought you'd ever hear a group of Anything Muppets from SESAME STREET sing the Blood, Sweat & Tears song "Spinning Wheel", well, never say never... (Oh, and keep an eye on the puff of smoke, knowing that it's coordinated between a performer & a separate cued smoke mechanism)

I'm not worried about the plague btw, and you shouldn't be either. We have both treatments and vaccine. In the United States, where I live, we have plague that pops up. National Parks give warnings about plague in the park, as in 'do not fuck with the squirrels because PLAGUE' So, unless you're

Also, I'm not sure why a lab worker who's actively working with Yersinia pestis isn't going to be vaccinated. Among other things.

LOCAL, it's not something to really worry about and it's something you can ring contain easily even with the pnuemonic form. No, what's weird is what we're hearing and what we're not hearing and none of it makes much sense if you know anything.

since small recessed chins which create a 'baby face' are sexually selected for in *many* cultures (and a plastic surgery done in many cultures) in women that is.
140
Emma Evans @trance.bsky.social · 14h
Also since most male humans probably kept beards (though there are stone age peoples who commonly shaved or plucked) .. the chin wouldn't have really been visible except on children and many females. Which could still make it a sexually chosen trait, but less likely I'd think

my personal theory evolution doesn't favor traits that cost with no benefit. And ALL of us have this. So yeah, attractiveness is a def poss. Or to do with two other things we do uniquely; eating cooked foods and speaking. I mean tons of species are vocal but the way we use our mouth and tongues

California voters, you have likely gotten your ballot or will get it soon, so let me give you two very important lifehacks: 1) The sooner you turn in your ballot, the sooner campaigns will stop sending you annoying texts/calls asking if you’re planning to vote 2) vote for me if you’re in AD-72

No folks, I've heard of eels. It's the horse AND eels that's new. Or perhaps was simply lacking the Oxford comma. I do not wish to investigate to find out.

back in the pre-marriage equality era I once heard a close friend from church earnestly say to someone “I just can’t understand why gay people want to DESTROY my marriage by redefining the meaning of it” I’ll remember the way she said the word “destroy” until the day I die, because she meant it

that's fucking awesome! Also more fun to do stuff like that on a team. Which is why I like bar quizzes, though I do them very infrequently. But I know jack shit about sports. Nothing. So having a team where there's a sports gal/guy and you have the nerd shit, and someone else geography :D

I was on Reach for the Top in the very early 80s, which was like College Quiz Bowl. We did quite well, but we drove our advisor to tears because during the pre-show practice we were imitating the SCTV Halfwits show.

seriously I actually asked the moderators about the Q, and told them the issue with it. Which they noted. But also maybe that was intentional too for all I know. I mean you don't want some pedantic kid melting down on stage because the show is actually wrong.

My Dad would've won Jeopardy, no joke. But he had terrible stage fright and absolutely did not ever want to try out. But at home, he'd get 100% so much it was boring to him. He'd only yell out an answer from the other room when we were all stumped and he'd come out for Final Jeopardy

Mad at myself mind you, and how hard the test was. Like I felt I could've done a lot better (which I rarely felt with tests) and I had done zero prep and I felt like I should've read through some almanacs. All that said, I never tried out again or anything. Or did prep. I do like Quizzo a lot.

I have zero issues with being on a stage, or public speaking. It just doesn't bother me or make me nervous. But I didn't get that far! Though someone else mentioned they did, and had issues w/ the button timing, which you see often on the show. And that's just...omg. So hard. What can you do
110
Emma Evans @trance.bsky.social · 22h
They had the mock game set up off to the side, because any who passed the test they told us would be going right to the mock game. And then no one did haha. A couple of kids cried.

AND I REMEMBER THAT because I spent way too much time on it, rather than you know, skipping and moving on and coming back And it pretty much threw me. That said, I wouldn't have passed it if I hadn't had that issue. And yeah the experience was fun but also I was mad :D
