Happened to be walking by the former residence of poet Carl Sandburg yesterday during a dreary walk. Love seeing the entryways to buildings like this and thinking back 110 years ago to a time when he and his family were coming home for the day, maybe after a similar walk around

A fav detail from the Pui Tak Center in Chinatown. Built in 1926-28 and designed by Michaelson and Rognstad, the same firm behind the Humboldt park boathouse built in 1928. Peacocks were popular in 20th century art and design but when I see one I like to think it's also a nod from a queer ancestor

Idk how many times I've walked past this building over the last 20 years but yesterday was the first time I noticed the Studebaker sign at the top from when it was a showroom in the early 20's until 1933. 6001 n broadway in edgewater

To my fellow Chicagoan's: WATCH your shoes. The city has been leaving out birdseed that is laced with toxins to destroy the pigeon population inside of the city. The powder used gets ingested by the birds and within hours or days they die.
Other animals eat the dead birds and later die from the ingested poison. (Hence why we see so many feathers on the streets lately.) When we step on the powder, our pets will lick it from our shoes because it tastes like food. Please be

Depending on roadway conditions, city crews may install highly visible traffic cones, pink Emergency Streets signs and speed feedback signs, which are the electronic boards that inform drivers how fast they are traveling.
Those measures, designed to increase driver awareness, will remain in place for about two weeks while city crews monitor traffic conditions, collect speed data and gather community feedback, according to a city news release.
"As a society we are really good at responding to crashes and returning the streets to normal. But we are missing opportunities to inform the public about the prevalence of fatal crashes," Jon Snyder, director of transportation and sustainability, said in the release.
