A friend just sent me the below screenshot from threads. Does anyone know if this is legit? It feels like Nextdoor vibes but maybe a private business is doing something shady? I'd assume the dead birds or feathers they're seeing downtown would be from the migration going on? #birding #chicago

To my fellow Chicagoan's: WATCH your shoes. The city has been leaving out birdseed that is laced with toxins to destroy the pigeon population inside of the city. The powder used gets ingested by the birds and within hours or days they die.
Other animals eat the dead birds and later die from the ingested poison. (Hence why we see so many feathers on the streets lately.) When we step on the powder, our pets will lick it from our shoes because it tastes like food. Please be
cautious. 1/2

Can't be true unless it's a specific private business. The city launched a program to eliminate *rat poison* last year, there's no way they're spreading poisonous birdseed. Also the local bird people would be rioting.
