The Masquerade Ball
You’re invited! Well, er, not really. But you’re going anyway! It’s time to infiltrate the event of the season. Rumor has it, someone at this ball knows the location of a very powerful mech. Find it, steal it, own it. But first, you’re gonna need a costume.

Use the Heist rules (Briny Bastards page 120) for this mission. The obstacles here are social: getting past guards, eavesdropping at opportune moments, slipping off to restricted areas, and bypassing security systems without ever being detected.

The target is The Princess, a non-biolinked mech that can learn from any schematics. It already knows 2 armaments and 2 munitions from any mech types, which you can acquire now for free (as long as they are unlocked). Since it isn’t biolinked, any Operative(s) can pilot this mech.

Once they have the mech, the Operatives have to decide how to leave: noisily in their new mech, or through a more subtle approach. Most of the guests aren’t geared for a fight, but the Space Force is patrolling.

The Masquerade Ball has the Dismounted tag.

EXT. ROOFTOP — NIGHT.
The first rays of sunrise creep over the horizon. Empty bottles,
cigarette stubs, and other trash reveals the aftermath of a long
night. JESSICA and SÉBASTIEN lie among the detritus, almost
clinging to one another.
SÉBASTIEN
Okay, what about you, though?
This is normal for you?
JESSICA
Which part?
SÉBASTIEN
All of it. The sneaking out, the
beer, the sigrets.
JESSICA
(laughing)
Cigarettes.
SÉBASTIEN
Yes, all of this.
JESSICA
I wouldn't say normal, exactly, no.
She takes his hand in his. Suddenly, a bright light flares out the
camera. Our pair shields their eyes as a FLYING SAUCER streaks
across the sky, landing with a large fireball in a nearby forest.
(in red rink, a handwritten note underlines FIREBALL and adds "We can do this ONCE, but we'll need two bottle episodes to balance the budget. — producer Gary)
JESSICA
Is that...?
SÉBASTIEN
Not one of mine. It looked
Kimagi, maybe.

I think there is a more pertinent question: "How is damage/stress/injury fictionally represented in the game?" Does taking damage from a goblin stabbing you represent the wearing down of your stamina/luck? Or is it just being stabbed in your meaty bits?

O-week of the Alphabet Superset: "Our Love" by Caribou 💘 Inspired by old jazz album covers, I wanted to make a cover based on strong typography. The hands were supposed to be an abstract graphic element but blending them in the text pattern felt abstract enough. #graphicdesign #albumart #coverart

Board games were my entry point to TTRPG design. Board games teach us how you can meld mechanic and narrative together in really pleasing ways. It's like how you use punctuation in fiction writing. Trying to make this show in my work... I'll keep trying and failing till I hit it.

My RPG career advice: naturally yes try to regularly play different games with different people. But also do whatever you want since nothing much matters in that hyper niche scene. Publish unplayable games if you feel like it, it wont change much, just do what you enjoy and connect with people.
