and despite all the time teachers spend on fact vs opinion, a lot of us got out of 3rd grade not understanding that "the earth is flat" is not an opinion. an incorrect statement of fact is not an opinion, it's a lie. opinions can't be (dis)proven. facts can. reality isn't subject to interpretation.

I have no idea where she is now, and I hope she got better through some kind of therapy, but I still hate her for what she did to me and how she damaged me. You can have both good and bad thoughts about your attacker. (Think you're decently healed and life lets you know you're just scabbed over.)

I mentioned this elsewhere, but the other Big Thing that is often missed: In Apocalypse World (and #PbtA in general) the MC (the GM analogue) is, get this, the MC is A FAN OF THE PLAYERS' CHARACTERS! The MC is not their biggest enemy, the MC is their biggest FAN! And wants to see them persevere!

Another comment on this: Unless specifically designed to be, a #PbtA game is not played as a "GOTCHA!" game where the GM is there to screw with the players. BE A FAN OF THE PLAYERS' CHARACTERS is a foundational sentiment in Apocalypse World and #PbtA only really works if that's in the MC's heart.

Had a player bounce off AW completely because of the "MC can go as hard and direct as they like" on a "Miss" because, "You'll just always choose to kill my character." as that's what HE would do as an adversarial GM. The thought of LIKING the PCs was completely alien to him and he couldn't grok it.

A "miss" in #PbtA should just be "The MC says what happens, as hard as they like." For ex: You rolled a miss on your meal roll. MC: Your dinner is so magnificent that the King demands you make him a full course of it... unfortunately, you already used your one Heaven Fruit... what do you do?

It's okay to hit "rewind" on occasion and have a do-over; yes consequences are part of (most) games, but "having fun" (in all its permutations) is usually a bigger part. It's not cheating to say, "That/we kind of sucked, can we try it again?" Ask yourself "Why am I playing this?" to figure it out.
