I'm gonna say that TTRPG designers would benefit from designing outside TTRPGS. I have learned SO much on my forays into creating simple video and board games. It all cross-pollinates.

Running a successful crowdfunding campaign for The Hearth Magazine would be an amazing opportunity to grow the magazine. Starting the publishing year from a place of being able to pay all my contributors would mean I could put the money from *sales* in 2027 towards quality improvements.

It wouldn't be a Sprinting Owl game without me trying something mechanically, so in this rpg about stopping a royal wedding to a monster I also have the following: -asymmetrical social combat -you can keep playing after you're dead -you can lie about your dice www.kickstarter.com/projects/rod...

I wrote a murder mystery for a dinner party with friends and designed postcard invitations for each of them. Each have a little character background for them so they can cobble together a costume. They'll receive more details when they arrive at the party. I haven't designed those cards yet.

Alphonse Mucha's Carnation illustration on the left of the postcard. An Oscar Wilde quote is at the top: "Murder is always a mistake – one should never do anything one cannot talk about after dinner." and then lines for an address are below.

I find myself thinking about this 1941 Harper's magazine article a lot. Point being, good, happy people don't turn into Nazis. Also, @cuny.edu (represent!) students seldom turn into Nazis. But the "scared spectator" and the "spoiled sons" often do. 🗃️ Archive Link below 👇

Kind, good, happy, gentlemanly, secure people never go Nazi. They may be the gentle philosopher whose name is in the Blue Book, or Bill from City College to whom democracy gave a chance to design airplanes—you’ll never make Nazis out of them. But the frustrated and humiliated intellectual, the rich and scared speculator, the spoiled son, the labor tyrant, the fellow who has achieved success by smelling out the wind of success—they would all go Nazi in a crisis.
Believe me, nice people don’t go Nazi. Their race, color, creed, or social condition is not the criterion. It is something in them.
Those who haven’t anything in them to tell them what they like and what they don’t, whether it is breeding, or happiness, or wisdom, or a code, however old-fashioned or however modern, go Nazi. It’s an amusing game. Try it at the next big party you go to.
