Board books definitely stand up to repeated readings! There are sooooo many wonderful ones, but I am really found of Kitten's First Full Moon
portersquarebooks.com
Kitten's First Full Moon: A Caldecott Award Winner
Kevin Henkes's acclaimed national bestseller about a kitten, the moon, and a bowl of milk was awarded the Caldecott Medal and was a New York Times Best Illustrated Book. This sturdy board book edition is perfect for little hands! Kitten's First Full Moon is an acclaimed modern classic, from one of the most celebrated and beloved picture book creators working in the field today. This memorable character and her suspenseful adventure are just right for the very youngest child. It is Kitten's first full moon, and when she sees it she thinks it is a bowl of milk in the sky. And she wants it. Does she get it? Well, no . . . and yes. What a night! A concise story, large type, and luminescent pictures play second fiddle to the true star of this book: a brave young kitten who sets out into the world on a quest that leaves her bruised, bewildered, and hungry, but that ultimately leads her back home, where something special is waiting just for her. This perfectly sized board book edition introduces Kitten to a new generation of the youngest readers. Indefatigable Kitten is a role model for all ages—taking chances, picking herself up when she fails, trying out new strategies to get what she wants, and figuring out when enough is enough. Winner of the Caldecott Medal, an ALA Notable Book, a New York Times Best Illustrated Book, and winner of the Charlotte Zolotow Award.

This is a chewy subject. I'd have to say meeting the work where it is and giving enough feedback to help but not overwhelm. And for a creative partner that's easy: brilliant, funny, brings excellent snacks.

The teasel has stopped flowering. Quick, cut it down! Why? What’s it going to do? Steal the car? Kidnap the kids? Leave it standing. It still looks fantastic, it’ll make a great silhouette on a frosty winter morning — and, as this goldfinch demonstrates, the seeds are food. #gardening #gardenSky

The Trump administration is cutting financial aid for degrees it says don’t “pay off”—including social work, early childhood education, and the arts. These careers contribute meaningfully to our society and we should be creating pathways to education, not erecting barriers. Congress can fix this!

Gone are the mass raids and militarized metro operations. Gone are the pomp and pageantry. But ICE arrests have hit record levels. ICE operations are no longer concentrated in large American cities. Immigration enforcement officials are also working in suburban and rural areas, all across the US.

I think one reason, and a grim one, that energy-limiting diseases get so little attention (aside from Covid denialism) is that it’s hard to capitalize on those of us with them. We are mostly very poor because our working ability is limited, we have little buying power and thus, little lobbying power.

It really is striking how many authoritarian states have ended up in this exact same place, where the leader seizes control of scientific inquiry. Lysenkoism in the Soviet Union, Aryan Physics in the Third Reich, Great Leap Forward (also related to Lysenko) in China.
