Scientists and experts warned COVID could spread through airborne aerosols, but infection-control leaders relied on outdated views of aerosol transmission. The assumption that COVID couldn’t be airborne was a mistake, based on thinking already described as illogical in a 2006 SARS Commission report.
A screenshot of a CTV News online article headline reads, "'Outdated' health policies surrounding Covid still pose a danger today, says U of C researcher." The byline attributes the piece to Tommy Osborne, published September 18, 2026, at 6:23 p.m. EDT.
Below the headline is a photograph of a male researcher, identified in the caption as Dr. Mark Ungin. He is wearing a white lab coat and a white face mask while walking through a brightly lit laboratory room. The lab environment is crowded with scientific instruments, including a complex robotic testing assembly with a Formlabs 3D printer sitting on a foreground workbench, storage shelving filled with cardboard boxes, and various desktop laboratory tools stretching into the background.
The caption text underneath the photograph reads: "Dr. Mark Ungin is raising concerns surrounding health policy and Canada’s COVID response."

The last breath of the aerosol-generating procedure? Scotland's new infection-control guidance and implications for anaesthesia   research-information.bris.ac.uk/en/publicati...
Abstract
In August 2026, Scotland fundamentally changed its infection control guidance regarding how respiratory disease transmission risk is managed - replacing the droplet–airborne dichotomy with the simpler concept of air transmission, and entirely removing the aerosol-generating procedure (AGP) list. This evidence-informed approach is based largely on the findings of clinical aerosol studies undertaken during COVID-19 which demonstrated that many procedures on the existing AGP lists, such as tracheal intubation, generate little or no respiratory aerosol (substantially less than talking or coughing). Removing the AGP list does not mean less protection; it means precautions are based on the likely pathogen, patient's respiratory activity, practitioner exposure and environment. Scotland’s revised guidance offers a timely opportunity to replace the inherited dogmas in international guidelines with rational and evidence-informed respiratory protection before the next respiratory disease pandemic.

I think Hunter S. Thompson's column in the immediate aftermath pretty much nailed it www.espn.com/espn/page2/s...
The towers are gone now, reduced to bloody rubble, along with all hopes for Peace in Our Time, in the United States or any other country. Make no mistake about it: We are At War now -- with somebody -- and we will stay At War with that mysterious Enemy for the rest of our lives.

It will be a Religious War, a sort of Christian Jihad, fueled by religious hatred and led by merciless fanatics on both sides. It will be guerilla warfare on a global scale, with no front lines and no identifiable enemy. Osama bin Laden may be a primitive "figurehead" -- or even dead, for all we know -- but whoever put those All-American jet planes loaded with All-American fuel into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon did it with chilling precision and accuracy. The second one was a dead-on bullseye. Straight into the middle of the skyscraper. This is going to be a very expensive war, and Victory is not guaranteed -- for anyone, and certainly not for anyone as baffled as George W. Bush. All he knows is that his father started the war a long time ago, and that he, the goofy child-President, has been chosen by Fate and the global Oil industry to finish it Now. He will declare a National Security Emergency and clamp down Hard on Everybody, no matter where they live or why. If the guilty won't hold up their hands and confess, he and the Generals will ferret them out by force.

Good luck. He is in for a profoundly difficult job -- armed as he is with no credible Military Intelligence, no witnesses and only the ghost of Bin Laden to blame for the tragedy.
OK. It is 24 hours later now, and we are not getting much information about the Five Ws of this thing.

The numbers out of the Pentagon are baffling, as if Military Censorship has already been imposed on the media. It is ominous. The only news on TV comes from weeping victims and ignorant speculators.

The lid is on. Loose Lips Sink Ships. Don't say anything that might give aid to The Enemy.

In May 2003, writer Simon Wessley opined about “World Trade Center Syndrome”, claiming that traumatized, anxious Manhattanites were experiencing a psychological problem, and not the real physical symptoms they were reporting. Thousands would later die from exposure to toxic chemicals from 9/11.
How have we reached this state of affairs?
Our reactions to the anthrax episode cannot be seen in isolation, or without reference to our general views of health, illness and risk.
Similarly, the emergence of 'World Trade Syndrome', a vague collection of symptoms among the residents of Lower Manhattan, blamed on various 'toxins' released after the collapse of the Twin Towers, only makes sense in the context of a seemingly endless list of other mysterious symptoms and syndromes that are blamed on similar toxic disasters.
