We'd have more fun modules to play if people tried out more systems. The answer to 5e isn't reskinning it or making something up from scratch. No need to reinvent the wheel with you own entire new system. Try lots of systems first and see what elements you like. Then maybe make a module.

D&D 4e was actually a solid game. It's fun to play and it was very good at being what it was intended to be. The problem with it was that it wasn’t what 3.5 fans wanted so they refused it, and WotC failed to appeal to its actual target demographic. It was a marketing failure, not a design failure.

Eligibility & Genre:

Plot-central ace (and LGBTQIA+) themes are welcome, but not required.

Adventure. There needs to be a big adventure, ideally one involving geographical travel. Eg. Exploring space/ a fantasy world, time travel, an alternate history, an underworld of demons, a society of vampires. Sexual exploration involving long distance travel and experiences of other places (eg a road trip) is welcome. Murder mysteries involving long distance travel (eg. multi city/ country investigations and some experience of those places) are welcome.

Given Adventure, I'm anticipating Fantasy, SciFi & other Speculative Fiction. Possibly Historical, mystery/ crime, romance, NSFW.

#SpoonieAuthChat I write fantasy & hate trying to pin down a subgenre. I don't know if contemporary fantasy is a thing, but some should probably be that rather than 'urban.' Some of what is probably science fantasy, splitting hairs between fantasy & scifi. And there's some epic, I guess.

Due to the framing of Glory Days, the answer for Sandara is both. For Sandara-as-storyteller, it's in the past. For Sandara-as-character, it's still to come. The book hops between Sandara telling a story she participated in (and events around this telling), and the actual content of that story.

I haven't actually listened to the show yet to know who Pix is, but I do prefer to have blue hair and I have Memento Mori stickers on things and a book WIP called Memento Mori, so the picture at least feels appropriate. Also the description sounds pretty accurate.

I was moderating what was billed as a horror panel at a con once, but it turned out half the authors wrote paranormal romance & the organizers had been confused. So I pivoted to making it a panel about passion-driven genres and engaging readers emotionally. Learned a lot about the overlap that day.

#AutChat A4: The Bible, for one. I follow along with sermons in a target language Bible, and it helps me parse it out. But you know what else is super helpful? Kids' shows! If the target language has children's programming, watch some shows aimed at toddlers. They're actively teaching the language.

#AutChat A3: I actually find most of it fairly easy. I don't know how much autism contributes to it, but I catch on fairly well. The hardest ones for me are actually the ones that look too much like English; I get them confused too often. But I've been told I have a brain for it, in general.
