I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

From Etihad's "RESPONSE TO CLAIMS RAISED ABOUT STATE-OWNED AIRLINES" filed with the US gov. in 2015. "The assertion that the Abu Dhabi government paid for Etihad’s sponsorship of English Premier League football club Manchester City is [...] false".
The assertion that the Abu Dhabi government paid for Etihad’s sponsorship of English Premier League football club Manchester City is equally false. In 2011, Etihad and Manchester City entered into a 10 year sponsorship agreement, which included naming rights for Manchester City’s stadium. Etihad funded this sponsorship from its own liquidity. It is not uncommon for airlines to have sponsorships with sports teams and their venues.

Imagine the game kicks off at Anfield but all the Liverpool players just stand still & refuse to engage in any way. The impact of that around the world would be astronomical. I would genuinely stand up & applaud.

Personally think everyone should refuse to play them but failing that, fans in attendance should simply turn their backs. There has to be a show of sacrifice & solidarity for the message to really be heard.

Thinking ahead, find it pretty depressing that it’ll almost certainly be record viewing figures in every game they play which only adds weight to the argument for sponsors & broadcasters wanting them in the PL but for all the wrong reasons.

This is just further proof of the bent nature of the sponsorships. No regular sponsor would threaten to sue the Prem for the reputational damage of a report they arent even named in. They would just cut ties with the club www.theguardian.com/football/202...

The "think of the jobs and investment we'd lose" argument for City really breaks down when you use it in other contexts. Apply it to dictatorships. Nope. Crony capitalism? Nah. Illegal drug dealers? Nyet. Hmm... seems like it doesn't apply at all when the underlying feature is corruption & crime.

This is a must read, it bleakely reminds me of Arsene, spending so many years fighting and unable to match City for players, losing his own, to be ridiculed and called cheap & a dithererer, when so many players he bid for, City and Chelsea just offered way more & inflated market further every year.

Really amused by the idea that the Premier League can't relegate Man City in case the league loses prestige, it's built on corruption, if it it loses prestige for getting rid of serial cheats then so be it.

The last person I want to see upset is Micah Richards or his family. I think what's more important to focus on though, is not the City fans or their pain. But the collective pain of all the supporters +players for being part of a literal sham of a competition for two decades.

The idea that the Premier League can’t afford to lose City is genuinely bizarre. For me, they can’t afford to keep them in the league. Their very presence is a blight on the league. I honestly think that if they aren’t expelled, that will be me done with football. That’s how disgusted I am.

So many whistleblowers end up in the arms of another criminal or a broken system that failed to protect them.

Alexander Beck @the-beck.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
I'll very rarely ever think whistle blowers are criminals, only if they cause harm to the vulnerable and the more we make it easier for whistle blowers, the more harm can be reduced for the vulnerable and increase for those who can afford harm because their capital only exists because of it.

And it’s not like either fans base was humble or in anyway ashamed of what everyone knew was going on, they revelled in it, bragged about it, shouted in our faces about it as we’d leave their ground after getting our arses handed to us. So they can get fucked as far as I’m concerned.

The other thing that concerns me is that this only came to light as a result of a self-referral following a forced sale of a Club, and a hack. It was so fucking obvious it was happening in both cases at the time. Yet the governing bodies were powerless to stop it. That needs fixing urgently.

I'd rather City get obliterated than we get retroactive titles. Sure, it'd be nice on paper but their blatant cheating and corruption robbed us and fans of other clubs from incredible moments of joy, years of happiness, and the happiness that comes with knowing a competition isn't rigged.

The issue goes way beyond those initial 9 years. Cheating early on allowed them to build a world-class squad, flip players for massive profits, and re-invest. Without that head start, they wouldn't have had the foundation or the resources to pull in Pep Guardiola and build a dominant dynasty.

First Punishment is that Man City have to give Haaland to Arsenal free of charge and still pay his wages. Liverpool get all their fullbacks. Manchester United get Carlos Tevez back, same age.

We can now look forward to a long appeal process, I know. But we can also say, now, "Manchester City, who were found guilty of 114 charges..." every time we mention the club's name; and I believe we should. No more "allegations". They were found guilty, and that is a fact.
