So if we want to pay for better cancer treatment for New Zealanders, who should we take money from? The answer, from National: literal starving children.

And it is such a choice to pit humans against each other. They could just increase Pharmac's budget without taking it specifically from overseas humanitarian aid. This is so ugly.

It is staggering that so many National MPs can hold their heads up while saying OUT LOUD that other people's lives don't matter as much as New Zealanders'. A harrowing, important listen. Please don't let these ghouls keep running the show.

Sorry, I'll explain. We currently react to inflation by reducing the disposable income of spenders so that demand falls and unemployment goes up. We use a bufferstock of unemployed people to keep workers desperate, so wages are suppressed and we don't get a feedback loop (wage 🔄 prices) [🧵 1/n]

Satirical cartoon of a psychiatrist in an armchair telling a man on a couch whose head has been blown off (and now only has a smoking neck hole), "…The problem is you still believe in international law…"Cartoon showing a personified Earth sawing off the branch it sits on while a robot labeled "AI" in the bucket of a cherry picker, offering a chainsaw, illustrating technology accelerating humanity’s self-destructive nature.Movie poster-style cartoon of giant red, tripod-legged data‑centre machines stomping over a suburban neighborhood as terrified residents flee, captioned with the bold headline ‘AI Productions Presents: Rise of the Data Centres’.Cartoon showing Donald Trump slumped backward in an office chair asleep with his red tie trailing; a man checks him while a woman at the desk looks on. The man says, 'No, I'm afraid not — he's just fallen asleep again'.

Nah, the electric utes will just replace them. Have to tax them on weight & size to incentivise people to buy smaller cars (or no cars at all by providing car-sharing schemes). Local authority functions we need to add: 1) Providing free space for fruit & veg markets 2) A basic car-sharing scheme

Every so often I get asked about tee shirts. I've always wanted to do them, but I wanted to do them "properly", which to me means a full size range, and preferably locally made. But I just don't have the spoons to make that happen. So... if you'd like a tee shirt: www.redbubble.com/people/these...

Sometimes my wife and I like to send each other text messages as though they’re democratic fundraising messages, and I believe she has produced the jewel of the form.
, it's
and I
have some personal news to share with you.
Being a mom is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I feel deeply that we should have salad tonight
This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. It means the world, and I wanted you to be among the first to know that squash is in the oven and kale is in the fridge. As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing
With love and gratitude,
stop to end

#nzpol The economy is there to serve the people and communities in which it operates✊. To maintain that licence to operate the economy has two tasks🤔. Feed the people and house the people♥️. That is the measure of a successful economy🙂. Anything less is a failed economy😥. 🙏

Apparently good economic management involves increasing unemployment until one in six young people are out of work, poor, and increasingly disenfranchised. Is this 'building the future'? Would 'fixing the basics' not involve fixing this disaster?
