lrt: Absolutely agree 100% with the John Brown analogy but also worth keeping in mind that Anthropic and similar companies want to establish AI "consciousness" so that they can offload blame when the product gets someone hurt and/or killed. The company can't be held accountable, if the AI did it.

Like, the code checking that the quoted post here likens to spell check *is* tech that predates genAI and has nothing to do with genAI, from what I understand. But because genAI is all that matters to investors, gotta call it AI to get that money. I can't really blame Capcom even if I am annoyed.

This is the downfall of using sites like resetera as a primary source. It's a lot of a game of telephone that misses details and nuance. And to be fair, Capcom was - from what I can tell - intentionally trying to hide that nuance and detail. It was a lot of corpo speak for AI investors really.
