The fiscal year is over. The dying Social, Behavioral, and Economic division of NSF ended up awarding 90 total grants this year, as opposed to ~700-800 in recent past years. Source: grantwitness.org/nsf/analyses...
The graph shows the cumulative number of awards made by month across this fiscal year, as compared to the last 6 fiscal years. The line for this year is total flat until June, but then finally gets up to 91 by October. In prior years the increase starts building earlier and ends on average in the 700-800 range (with variability, last year was only between 400-500).

For those demoralized by the MPS plan to close schools, we can push back and win.
Organizing can change the choices on the table. In 2024, Seattle Public Schools faced a gap of nearly $100
million and proposed closing up to 21 schools. After months of pushback from families, the district dropped the plan and turned to the state for help.
The following spring, Washington's Legislature voted to remove its cap on special-education funding, adding $750 million over four years statewide.

News media is built on narratives. In this case it's generically that the 'POTUS' is the leader of a political party that provides direction + policy through informed strategy, setting and following laws to appeal to interests and constituents. Couldn't be further from the actual truth.

American news media only cares about narratives in both its formats and its content. It's why, as the colonial boomerang returns to smack the domestic populace, we so clearly see the chasm between reality and news narratives, especially in political reporting (aka all reporting.)

The Third Slow American Revolution is the collapse of culture. There's no longer a mainstream, yes, but more importantly there's no more down- or up-steam connections to mass culture. It's the Avatar effect, where a success has little cultural impact.

I just watched the flight, from arrival to departure, and double-checked the video - nobody was loaded or unloaded on this flight. It was 💯 ICE - someone began unloading shackles before being told to stop. I’m going to speculate that some lawyers succeeded at the last minute - a small victory.

Melissa Vadasserril, a senior director at Acoustic, an agentic marketing platform, said the arrival of Meta’s Muse reminded her of the 2010 unveiling of Apple’s digital personal assistant, Siri, which many people were slow to adopt.

“People just didn’t know what you could do with it,” Ms. Vadasserril said. With Muse, “I do think it’s a little early for the market, but I’m very curious to see where things go.”

Rumors about “rigged elections" are now a fixture of U.S. elections, leading to diminished trust in election results & democracy (broadly). These rumors can sometimes be hard to debunk, esp. in their early stages. Our UW team has identified the 6 common ways that election integrity rumors mislead:
Infographic titled "Six Ways 'Rigged Election' Rumors Mislead." A two-column table pairs six labeled categories with descriptions. The first three categories are:

No Evidence: The rumor is entirely unsubstantiated. There's no evidence to support the rumor.

Fake/False Evidence: The rumor is based on fake or synthetic evidence (e.g. AI-generated content), manipulated evidence, or false witness testimony.

Misinterpreted Evidence: This rumor is based upon real evidence that has been misinterpreted or intentionally mischaracterized to create a false impression.

A black banner then introduces the final three categories: "Real Evidence, Real Voting Issue, False Narrative."

Exaggerated Impact: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but falsely insinuates or exaggerates impact on election results.

Ignored Remedies: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but ignores and/or obscures the remedies that would address this problem

False Blame: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but either falsely attributes intent for an accidental issue or places blame on an innocent party.
