Boo! Behold the whitemargin stargazer. It inhabits parts of the Indo-Pacific. This ambush predator's upturned face allows it to spend much of its time burrowed beneath the sand—waiting patiently for passing prey like fish or crustaceans. Photo: Robin Gwen Agarwal, CC BY-NC 4.0, iNaturalist

Just to be really clear on this, grant that LLMs think and reason and feel and decide to Go Rogue. Fine. All they can do though is WRITE code. This is completely inert. It only does anything if you decide to run the code. You may decide to read the code before running it. The LLM cannot bypass this.

The second thing you have to know is that there's literally no justification for the way we all have the option to use stand alone fascist funded genAI. Every mention of it, every use, every dollar spent on it, is the result of inexcusable mishandling of power technology and information.

Outside the pandemic, U.S. information-sector employment is now at its lowest level in more than a decade. BLS data shows 2.739M jobs in September, down ~12% from the 2022 peak. The entire post-pandemic hiring boom has now been erased. I expected AI to cause Big Tech to shrink but not all tech. 😞

Your favorite Anthropic so-called "whistleblower" said that the rationalists have "specialized minds" that allow them to see that the end is about to be brought on to us by a magical machine god. Parroting the cult leader (of the rationalists, the R in TESCREAL) who says the same about himself.
His autobiography even opens with a parable: as a small child he threw his favorite squirtgun off a third-floor balcony rather than accept that his mother could lend out what was his, and felt complete when he heard it hit the pavement. He goes on to describes himself as a specialist in the technological transformation of the human species, one of the few people alive with the standing to steer it. He identifies with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the one person who sees the danger clearly and has to act while everyone else gets on with ordinary life.

Choice of passive confusion sounds like the "learned helplessness" that a lot is people talk about which tbh i didn't think was real. I don't think of myself as passive or a victim! I'm determined to formulate questions towards understanding. And often I do learn from this!!
