It is possible to beat Donkey Kong Country 2 completely pacifist using a combination of secrets and glitches, allowing no enemy or boss to be harmed. Ironically, getting the true ending destroys Crocodile Isle, killing everyone on it anyway.

How to beat Donkey Kong Country 2 the pacifist way
Most enemies in the game can be spared via damage boosting through them or skipped via team-up throws or Dixie's twirl. However, some bonus rooms require all enemies inside to be defeated. These can be avoided by using the secret that gives 75 Kremkoins*, allowing all bonus rooms to be skipped.
*In the first level, enter the cabin, exit immediately. Collect the first banana bunch but not anything else. Return to the cabin, collect the balloon, Exit, collect the bunch again, but nothing else. Return, and it will contain a coin that gives you 75 Kremkoins.
To skip bosses, get a glitch called "Bonus Storage" by pausing and exiting while failing a bonus. After this, use "Funky Skip" (get near the boss, hold L+Select, then tap Right, Left, Up, Down, Right, Left. Hold Up, press B, let go of Up and B, and press Down) which will put you on the world map. Reenter the world, then visit any NPC, and if done correctly, you will be put on the world map again but with the next world unlocked without fighting the boss.
After beating all the Lost World levels (requires only getting to the beginning of K. Rool's Keep and the 75 Kremkoins) the final battle is unlocked. In this battle, the player needs to enter it, then die, and finally do another Funky Skip to enter the True Ending credits instantly, without harming K. Rool.
In an exquisite case of irony, the True Ending cutscene shows Crocodile Isle being blown up and sinking into the sea, presumably killing everyone on it (save for K. Rool, who escapes on a boat).
It seems all the pacifism was for nothing in the end.

This is union-busting. Tim Schafer is a boss and him and his management team did what bosses do.

This included managers. Legally, the only union-related prohibition for managers was that they could not give employees their opinions on unions or encourage them one way or another. But several union supporters said they directly heard managers express concerns that they were no longer allowed to speak to their employees about anything, and a few people told me their own managers or senior members of their teams stopped speaking to them entirely, even about the games they were working on. “They helped enforce this narrative where you couldn’t talk to people when nothing about neutrality required that to happen,” said one union supporter. “Supporters who were confused saw that, and bought into it.”

Other union-supportive employees told me they received the cold shoulder from people they didn’t work closely with, but had previously been friendly with. There were accusations of strongly anti-union employees trying to scare off prospective members, sharing hypothetical or even at times outright false information about the impacts a union would have at Double Fine, or making what sources asserted were false accusations about the organizers themselves and their tactics.

The spin-off from Microsoft precipitated new fears. Would there be layoffs? Would Double Fine get to keep ownership of its games? Would the studio even have enough runway to survive for long without Microsoft’s backing? The answer to these questions came rather quickly. On July 28, 23 people were laid off from Double Fine amid the split. These layoffs took place after Double Fine’s departure from Xbox, and Schafer was the final deciding voice as to who stayed and who went. Among those 23 were all eight organizing committee members who had signed the letter to the studio announcing the petition withdrawal. The majority of the rest, though not all, had been vocally or, in a few cases, privately supportive of the union, even if they’d been ineligible to join it. In total, the layoffs comprised roughly one-fourth of Double Fine.

“Management absolutely mishandled the situation…The manager training was weeks late and landed after the brunt of the drama. The lack of direct communication made an already clique-y culture even worse. And studio leadership overall was not only extremely influenced by their proximity to Tim, but there was a large amount of ignorance towards the role of a union or how they work.”

In the weeks and months since the petition withdrawal, those at Double Fine who had openly or even privately supported the union tell me they have laid low, afraid of further retribution or ostracization. “It feels like they want you to leave,” one person said. “And it’s working. I’m looking for other jobs.” Unfortunately, as they and others pointed out to me, the games industry job market is so bad that jobs are in short supply.
