There are songs that I still hear wobble and die in my head, because they had been recorded at the end of a cassette just as the tape was running out. Even now, my brain hears El Diablo, by Arcadia, quaver at about the 2 minute mark, even though I've not even had the tape itself for decades.

This is a great, illuminating thread, but can we just look at that 25% royalty on eBooks/Audio? It's industry standard and publishers will not budge on it (I've tried!), which means for the contract life they earn 3x as much as the author on a product with no printing/distribution/return costs.

This happens because podcast hosting services require creators to guarantee there is no third party content at all. This ignores fair use, review etc and is because revenue collection services don’t exist in all territories, and fair use law varies round the world.
