In Massachusetts, we have a responsibility to protect the vulnerable and stand up for those who need it. We don’t throw trans kids under the bus for political points. We protect them—and all of our neighbors—because trans rights are human rights.

My Books Save Lives Act makes it clear: discriminatory book bans are a violation of federal civil rights law. I held a read-in at All She Wrote Books in Somerville to announce this bill to fight book bans and emphasize the importance of inclusive literature.

Thrilled to hear my rep @pressley.house.gov read from 'I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings' at Somerville MA bookstore @allshewrotebks.bsky.social as she prepares to reintroduce her Books Saves Lives Act. Pressley says: "Everyone has a right to read, learn, & see themselves reflected in our literature."

Let's try this again 👋 Hi Bluesky - I'm Massachusetts' Attorney General. You might know me from suing President Trump nearly 50 times, beating Uber and Lyft in court, or being the first woman of color elected to statewide office in MA. I officially left X today - help me find my MA people?

"Racist people are firing and laying off Black women at three times the rate of other women." 😬Yikes! It sounds bad when you say it like that! "Black women are losing jobs at 3 times the rate." Much better! Makes it sound like the Black women just need to be more careful or better at their jobs!

Black Women Are Losing Jobs At Three Times The Rate Of Other Women | Essence
New labor data shows Black women accounted for a disproportionate share of job losses across 2025, especially in federal, education, and care-sector roles.

🧵 (1/4) On Transit Equity Day I want to make sure we're telling a fuller story of the fight for justice and better transit. 100 years before Rosa Parks, there was Elizabeth Jennings Graham and months before Rosa, there was Claudette Colvin.

A good time to recommend one of my favorite books ever: "Never Caught: The Washingtons' Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge" by historian Dr. Erica Armstrong Dunbar. Beautifully written, deeply researched. There is also a young reader's edition that would make a great gift for kids.

on this day in 1892: white Memphians destroyed the printing press and offices of the newspaper owned and operated by Ida B. Wells, a threat meant to stop her from reporting on lynching. They failed.

This is excellent. Getting around Boston with a stroller was tough - and, if needed, a stroller can be folded up and carried! For people with other mobility aids or disabilities, it would be even more difficult. This is a lovely use of the Mayor's platform.

Very interesting post on the (ignored) importance of masculinity and male flight in the discussion about college enrollment. Highly recommended reading. 👇

Why aren't we talking about the real reason male college enrollment is dropping?
We would rather talk about literally everything else.

An interesting read, particularly in how it relates to #kidlit. If white men (and the boys who grow up to become them) are largely considered the "problem"--as they seem to be in many circles--the solution isn't to ignore them or wave them off, saying they can just read books by and for women. 1/

Lorena shared this pic from where she was harvesting apples in WA State. Filling these 900 lb bins full of fresh apples is hard work and she only earns $32/bin. She wishes farm workers had better labor protections as there is a lot of discrimination and intimidation. #WeFeedYou

Until circa 1980, elite colleges were actually getting more economically diverse. Kids from poor families were getting in at increasing rates, and the advantages of wealth were shrinking. Then it all went into reverse.
