Texas farmers deserve the freedom to grow crops that make sense for their land and water. Some varieties of industrial hemp can grow with less irrigation than other commercial crops, yet government red tape continues to hold farmers back.
Graphic from Clayton Tucker for Texas Agriculture Commissioner featuring a close-up of a green hemp plant with a circular inset showing agricultural irrigation sprinklers watering crops. A small circular portrait of Clayton Tucker wearing a cowboy hat appears above the main text. Bold white and yellow lettering reads, “Some varieties of industrial hemp can grow with less irrigation than other commercial crops.” The background features green vegetation with a blue gradient overlay toward the bottom. on October 14, a black bear entered the Mammoth Lakes Library at 6 am. it was the 100th anniversary of the publication of Winnie-the-Pooh. the bear went directly to the employees' food supplies. i know what you're thinking. the answer is yes. he ate a pot of honey. this was a pilgrimage.

385K views · 119 reactions | On the very day the world marks 100 years since A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh was first published, a black bear made its way inside the Mammoth Lakes Library branch of the Mono County Free Libraries before opening hours — and, in a tribute no one asked for, went straight for the honey. Director of Libraries, Josef Bopp, shared that the bear entered the library at approximately 6:10 a.m, well before public opening at 10:00am. Upon entering, the bear went straight for the staff snack supply, where it helped itself to peanut butter, a selection of peach cups, a pawful of cookies and — of course — one jar of honey. Satiated, the bear then took a full tour of the library, perusing the new releases and inspecting the reference desk before, evidently content with its visit, letting itself out and departing for the day. Remarkably, no damage was reported. No shelves were toppled and no books were harmed, though the honey jar has not been returned at time of publication. “While we love an enthusiastic patron, and we understand the excitement of the centennial,” said Bopp, “we do remind patrons- and perhaps more importantly our bears- that snacks are not part of the circulating collection.” Winnie-the-Pooh was first published on October 14, 1926, introducing readers to a “Bear of Very Little Brain” with a very large appetite for honey. One hundred years later, the timing of the curious bears visit seems more than a coincidence. The library invites the community (human members only) to celebrate the centennial by visiting any of the seven #library of the #monocounty Free Libraries for a copy of Winnie-the-Pooh, or related bear titles! *On A Serious Note* Pooh may be cuddly, but #mammothlakes bears are wild. Residents and visitors are reminded to: • Keep a safe distance and never approach or feed a bear • Use bear-resistant trash containers and keep car doors and windows closed • Report bear encounters to Mammoth Lakes Police 760-932-7549, option 7. Or 911 in an emergency. As Pooh himself might say, it’s best to think, think, think before getting t | Mono County Free Libraries

'Goodbye' is an alteration of "God be with you."

Sean Kress• @SKress7514 • 16h
Do you have evidence to back this up? If so can you explain what "good night" , "good
morning" and "good evening" are alterations of?

Merriam-Webster & @Merriam..•15h
whatSean Kress & @SKress7514 • 14h
I was genuinely asking the question because the only thing I find on the internet is that it is basically a slur from the original.... I assumed there was a better explanation for it than that as it seems a little unlikely given the good night, good morning etc haven't been slurred into something else too. Sorry if you saw that as offensive.

Merriam-Webster @ @Merriam...•14h S
It is not related to 'good night/ day/morning.'
The 'good' in those do not come from 'God.'Sean Kress @ @SKress7514 • 14h
So the internet suggestion this it is just a slur is what you are basing that on too then?

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Merriam-Webster's etymology follows established linguistic scholarship, not unverified internet suggestions of a "slur."
"Goodbye" is an alteration of "God be with you"; "good" in greetings like "good morning" has separate origins unrelated to "God."
