Really disappointed that we (the church) are still doing this. Can we please not? And no, it doesn't matter if the course is outside the church auspices, which I sincerely hope it is. This is how spiritual abuse is perpetuated.

Years ago, I was walking home late one night, and a drunk guy was harassing me - trying to get me to go home with him, pushy sex comments, etc. After a few mins, his mate turned to him and said, firmly but not aggressively, "MATE. leave her alone, yeah?" And he did. I think about him all the time.

But I don't know anything about tapes or digitisation or anything like that. I don't even know how I would play this. I don't even know if it's still in good enough condition to play. So my question is... How? How do I take these two tapes, this two part performance, and make the choir live again?

The installers had left us the key that accessed the electronic insides, not the one that let you turn the alarm off. Naturally I discovered this after working hours on the day before we had a hire booking in the morning.

Suddenly reminded of the time I went through every key for two churches to discover that we did not, in fact, have a key to turn the fire alarm off. While the fire alarm was going off. After I set it off. To test it. (This is how I discovered that one of my friends can pick locks)

I'm now amazingly well controlled on oral CGRP inhibitors (gepants), to the extent that I've been discharged from secondary care. So there is hope.

Then rang the clinic (in pain) to request an urgent consultant appointment and very rudely dismissed as I had "refused treatment" (nurse and I agreed there was no point). I didn't get that appointment or any other effective treatment for nearly a year.

The absolute worst was having waited 6 months for an appointment with my consultant after botox suddenly stopped working, to find it was with a nurse who was expecting to give me more botox and had no idea it hadn't been working.

I can fully sympathise with this - chronic migraines are truly disabling, both physically and mentally. I was lucky to have a supportive GP, but even so the years of trying and failing meds and waiting for specialist appointments were miserable. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

As much as it's clearly a question of basic human morality that the RNLI save everyone they can, regardless of circumstances, what is the alternative being proposed by the far right? They're volunteers - are we suggesting they should have the power to determine who lives and dies at sea?

Despite being full of Greek words, for some reason everybody in medical teaching seems determined that mnemonics are more about the lungs than memory and it drives me nuts.

Mine were free. I had two school bus passes because I lived so far out in the sticks. One for the minibus taxi to get me to the bus stop and one for the actual school bus. As you can imagine, this did lead to some strandings when the "first" bus was late.

I am curious as to whether this is a specifically transphobic WI group, or "just" a group who have either chosen to go along with the WI's transphobic capitulation or just swallowed the edict from central office. Not that any of those options are OK, but responding to them is different.

Whether you need them is because you're doing something illegal, unwise, or just unlucky, the RNLI will put their lives at risk to help you. We do not appreciate how fortunate the British Isles are to have them (they work in Ireland too.)

This is something that seems increasingly a problem in the NHS. Because of the effort by transphobes to stigmatise trans healthcare, normal doctors have been persuaded that any care intervention for us needs to be handled by specialists no matter what.

I've updated my previous work to make an unofficial map to help explain Oxford's traffic filters, due to start on 28th September. Please share if useful, but not for republication in news media, advertising or political/campaign material without further approval from me.
Unofficial explanatory map of Oxford’s car traffic-filter trial, starting 28 September 2026. Oxford streets are shown four colour-coded areas showing how each can be reached by car from the Ring Road without passing through a traffic filter: blue from the north, brown/orange from the east, turquoise from the south, and purple from the west. Matching coloured arrows show the appropriate Ring Road approaches. Six traffic filters are marked: Hollow Way and Marston Ferry Road operate 7–9am and 3–6pm Monday–Saturday; St Cross Road, Hythe Bridge Street, Thames Street and St Clement’s operate 7am–7pm daily. It is noted that Traffic filter (TF) permits do not apply to other filters such as High Street or those in East Oxford/Cowley.
