As the founding executive director of HOURCAR, let me say that it is imperative someone steps forward to rescue car sharing AND bike sharing in the Twin Cities. HOURCAR, Evie and Nice Ride--all community-led nonprofits--were beautiful systems that allowed so many of us to live nearly car free.

Two people holding up a large map for the crowd to see. The map shows the Twin Cities metro area, color coded with the city centers generally shaded more green, and the outer suburbs generally shaded more orange and red.

Innovation can be exciting, but it does not do anything beneficial if it does not serve the people it is for. Further, self-driving creates more problems than it theoretically can solve. We don't need it. Just fund public transit and bikes.

They are also not inevitable, like some people are saying. Those who do are just giving up or intentionally throwing in the towel for how these things will be everywhere. We have the tools and the policy abilities to not let them take over, let alone be here in the first place.

I think they are a product, not a service. They do not serve people as much as they look to profit off the need to move people around. By removing the driver from the equation, there is the hope to further minimize who they have to pay.

This is what really grinds my gears about @mndot.mn.gov refusal to consider options to remove I-94. People will use the mode of transport that’s most useful. Bury a fast, frequent train in old freeway trench and people will use it. Just look as how popular the Borealis has been!

still a horrible decision by the city to allow private vehicles here. this should only be open for transit like the 18, the last thing we need is another north-south street for drivers to speed in and out of downtown. i think a bottleneck was good for eat street which already has too many cars on it

MN voters: amending the state constitution requires a majority of voters to vote yes - abstaining from the school funding question on your ballot this year is effectively a no-vote. Please take a sec to get informed before you submit your ballot! www.lwvmn.org/2026-constit...
A portion of the MN official ballot that reads

Constitutional Amendments
Failure to vote on a constitutional amendment will have the same effect as voting no on the amendment.
To vote for a proposed constitutional amendment, fill in the box next to the word "Yes" on that question. To vote against a proposed constitutional amendment, fill in the box next to the word "No" on that question.
Increasing funding to school districts
Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to increase the funding going to all school districts from the permanent school fund, which is a fund that supports school districts without raising individual income or property taxes, effective July 1, 2027?

(This is a photo of my ballot where I have selected yes)
