I think car-dependency has narrowed folks' imagination for getting around. Car-free gives you more options, not less. I bike most places, but will walk, use public transit, carpool with a friend, even use carshare (Evie), or go galaxy-brain multi-modal when I need to. But that's the thing...

Was out exploring tonight… It’s kind of crazy that 35W forms a 1.4-mile-long wall completely devoid of bike-friendly crossings from the Midtown Greenway to 40th Street. Ideally, we should have a bike exclusive bridge at 34th and stitch the Southside back together.

The city should flex its regulatory powers to address utility companies tearing up the bike/ped network. Especially in Whittier, they’ve been slapping dangerous “fixes” on important bikeways for durations that would be unacceptable on major roads.

My experience with them here has turned me off of Limes completely. They’re ridiculously expensive, litter paths, and are kneecapped by GPS restrictions. Stop outsourcing our transit to tech bros and give us a publicly subsidized, winterized, electric, docked bikeshare (see DC and Montreal) ffs

I genuinely laughed out loud at this. I think this person is just a troll, BUT there are lots of Americans who’ve been so fooled by the car lobby to think things similar to this. PSA: Kids can survive the cold w/o cars! Winter gear exists and is pretty great.

Perhaps I misunderstood your posts above. I thought you were suggesting parents of young kids cannot around in winter without a car.

Parents of young children should not take them around without a car or some other heated mode of transportation in the winter. They could die.
The elderly should also not be out exercising in either extreme heat or cold.
