Trump and Musk are doing everything they can to try and force Ukraine to surrender to Putin while Musk spends over $300 million to try and buy the midterm elections to maintain total power. The American government under Republicans are on the side of evil. Vote them out.

Also many African countries post-1945 have fought liberation wars against European countries with modern militaries (i.e. helicopters, jet planes, and main battle tanks) and won.

Just have to note that Vance is better at politics than most people here want to give him credit for. But this only works because he's not shamed for it, and it almost doesn't matter how good you are when you personally fucked over nearly every American.

Look, it’s 2026. Announcing in 2026 that “X is great and everyone should give it another chance” is identical to announcing “the new Harry Potter is great! Everyone should check it out!” I’m not gonna argue with Gruber about this. He wants us to know that this is who he is. I’ll just believe him.

Also it’s time for the news to stop treating this administration’s racist war against Somalis as “Trump being Trump.” They targeted Minneapolis because they hate an ethnic group here, and now they’re targeting the most prominent political figure in that group with thinly rationalized state violence.

The more combative Dems get, the more of this they will run into. It will be a coordinated wave of elite opinion, scolding them, tamping them down. The fight strategy *only* works if they are willing to bull their way through it, blow it off, mock it. (Their history does not raise one's hopes.)

The right wing crash out over asian students celebrating at a UT football game reveals that all along the true goal of reactionary colorblindness was never “meritocracy” but resegregation. (Gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...
Color-blind meritocracy was, for many years, a successful rhetorical strategy for undermining antidiscrimination law and excluding Black people from selective schools and prominent positions. That’s why so many former segregationists seemed to suddenly embrace the concept in the 1970s. For them, resegregation—not color-blindness—was always the goal. As long as the success of some immigrants could be used to paint Black students as undeserving, color-blind meritocracy was good. But now many on the right see a new problem: too many Asian Americans in elite spaces. Their success, therefore, must be portrayed as a sinister theft of real (white) Americans’ birthright.

The declining “social trust” that the administration warned against is, of course, not the fault of these students. The problem is bigots like Bo French who cannot accept into their community people who do not share their race and religion, and those who monetize or otherwise profit from that bigotry by spreading it through social media. Like the proverbial child who kills their parents and asks for mercy as an orphan, they are responsible for the problem they are decrying.
