I don’t trust the mainstream media, but I feel like the primary alternate model, getting the news from the posts of a 14 year-old Romanian schizophrenic shitposter named “G00n3R the Swamp Pervert,” is not necessarily a superior alternative.

This is a fantastic essay using @milhistlee.bsky.social's book on The Cutting Off Way (of war) in Native North America to think about how warfare is changing today. I think you can actually push the analogy even further though, toward overall strategic aims.

Realized the other day that Okkupert (Occupied) was on Prime and I'd never watched the third season. The series opener, I would argue, hits even harder today than in 2015.

Worth noting that this data is essentially radioactive for all but a few prospective buyers. Unless you’re the MSS or the SVR and willing to buy this real quiet then work it into your prior PII datasets and/or new ops’ targeting, even expressing an interest is painting a target your back.

Their definition of “open” is that the U.S. can escort limited groups of vessels out at great expense. That is very different from what “open” meant before they started this war.

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

This is something I've really been struck by, looking back on my (very conservative) community growing up. They would deride any college education that didn't lead to a lucrative career--while complaining about the decline of historical understanding in the culture. Well. . .
