The aluminum frame pieces are painted and one screen is in! I will probably give the other frame another coat of paint and give it a bit longer to dry because the paint on the first one scratched a bit during screen installation and I'd also missed a few spots […] [Original post on mastodon.world]

Some beige-painted aluminum strips of various lenghts propped against a wall on some cardboard and a drop cloth. The cardboard also has some beige paint on it and a can of spraypaint sits on some wooden steps to the left.

An assembled aluminum frame with hardware on a weathered blue wooden table. The frame is composed of beige aluminum strips held together with white corner pieces. There are metal springs on the outside left of the frame and black pull tabs facing into the frame. There is a channel along the inside of the frame, where the spline will fit to hold the screen in place.

A sliding window open with a screen in it.

A corner with two windows. A brown and white tabby sits on the windowsill of the window on the right while looking over her shoulder through the open window with a newly fitted screen on the left.

Looking at the demonstrations in France, it’s hard not to see the mirror image of America. Things in both countries feel stuck, owing to the same factors: money in politics, wealth inequality, and racism/white supremacy. Patriarchy and misogyny, too.

This little guy fell from a window in my child's room when I opened it, so I escorted it outside. It looks like it's a bold jumping spider, which should be fairly harmless, but it's probably safer outside where it can freely hunt things than in my child's room where it can be accidentally smashed.
