You really see that the hotel are "up" on the escarpment from this angle. That is, the top of the falls (even higher, on a ridge above them), vs the bottom of the gorge where Lake Ontario/Toronto shoreline is.

So after opening a new contact lens, I found the missing lens in the contact solution part of the lens case. Somehow it flew from my face, over my sink, over the solution bottle & into the container. The act of opening a new lens, summoned the old one back to this reality.

I would just like to note that the Allies started winning WW2 when they moved from naming their tanks after racist Confederate loser traitors (Stuart, Lee) to naming them after righteous Union winners (Sherman). The British caught on to this earlier, renamed the Lee the Grant, and never looked back.
