Let me try this once more. It was a choice. EITHER the Greens adopted a slogan. OR they could have joined the next govt, where they could push for an end to arms sales, sanctions, support for the arrest warrants etc. It was never going to be both. A woman has just died of plague in Russia, allegedly after breaking a test tube in a lab. This article doesn’t specify, but others have said that it is pneumonic plague, which can spread between humans via droplet transmission. 200 people with whom she had contact are now under medical observation.

Just did a wee slot about Burnham's speech on Radio Scotland alongside Brian Taylor and Michelle Thomson. I watched the full thing through this morning in preparation, and I was genuinely impressed that he finally seems to have found a defining ethos for his politics, just in the nick of time.

The figure everyone quotes for the state pension is £12,500 but this figure is only for pensioners receiving the state pension after 2016 - the minority. The majority receive a much lower rate with many women who stayed at home to raise families receiving much less.

In Scotland, we provide free personal care for older people without punishing pensioners. Andy Burnham removing the triple lock would simply repeat the mistakes of Keir Starmer. The blame for the UK’s financial mess lies with successive Westminster governments, not pensioners.
