Just did a wee slot about Burnham's speech on Radio Scotland alongside Brian Taylor and Michelle Thomson. I watched the full thing through this morning in preparation, and I was genuinely impressed that he finally seems to have found a defining ethos for his politics, just in the nick of time.

The figure everyone quotes for the state pension is £12,500 but this figure is only for pensioners receiving the state pension after 2016 - the minority. The majority receive a much lower rate with many women who stayed at home to raise families receiving much less.

So why don't politicians who argue that Britain can't afford benefits advocate putting up the minimum wage to the point where universal credit no longer has to subsidise low-wage employers?

If people don't want to pay tax to make this country function and help out the rest of society and particularly those who need help most... then maybe they should move to Dubai and stop bleating about it. Really sick to death of it.

Estonia DOD: It has been confirmed that the arson attack on an Estonian defence company was ordered by russia. russia’s acts of sabotage across Europe are intended to undermine support for Ukraine and fuel fears of escalation. They demonstrate russia's desperation. Our response is precisely the opposite of what russia seeks to achieve: more pressure on russia, stronger support for Ukraine. russia will not intimidate us or alter our policy.

In Scotland, we provide free personal care for older people without punishing pensioners. Andy Burnham removing the triple lock would simply repeat the mistakes of Keir Starmer. The blame for the UK’s financial mess lies with successive Westminster governments, not pensioners.

Diesel fuel in Scotland is over £2 a litre for the first time ever - double what it was ten years ago. Westminster is responsible for the energy market.

Liar. Small boat crossings peaked under Johnson in 2022 reaching 46,000 in 2022. In current year they are 18,565 and falling. Also prior to Boris Johnson's Brexit there were none.
It's a disaster, and it can all be traced to
Labour ideology. Burnham has no mandate
from the people. He has no real ideas, and
no plan,

True, Saxony-Anhalt one of two eastern states which voted is hardly representative being long associated with the right and only a small number of representatives, whilst Berlin went left and was hardly mentioned. The right are a threat but a complete picture by the press would be appreciated.

‘I have nothing in the UK at all’: British man torn from his Swedish wife and home
Charles lands at Heathrow with just two bags and nowhere to go as a result of Brexit and Stockholm’s hardline immigration position Doubled over a Heathrow baggage trolley, the former British business director is sobbing uncontrollably, exhausted emotionally and physically after being deported from Sweden. Hours earlier the 65-year-old had been marched on to a plane in Stockholm, separated from his home and his Swedish wife after a five-year battle to stay in the country after Brexit came to an end.
