Social expulsion and social death are better concepts to address the kind of social repudiation that Mad people experience. Not all forms of punitive or disciplinary power are carceral. It’s also worth mentioning that “carceral logic” is invoked in self-serving ways absent of a structural critique.

This is actually quite common. In a lot of municipalities the CPS will consider this “neglect.” Not that the state failed bc housing isn’t affordable or the only jobs available don’t provide for cost of living. But it’s the parents fault. It’s another prison pipeline.

There were more men in a single documented gang rape at one school than the number of competitive trans athletes nationally. But I’ve heard a lot more politicians being asked about protecting girls from one of these scenarios and not another… I’ll let you guess which is which.

On the *same day* the Cornell Seven drugged and raped Jane Doe, Cornell banned four students (including the President of Cornell JVP) from campus for three years for nonviolent, pro-Palestine protests. The same Cornell officials let the rapists off with apology essays.

82% of women on probation & 85% of women on parole live in states that restrict abortion & include travel restrictions as a standard condition of supervision. Even when approval is given, the process & logistics can delay care, sometimes rendering it impossible:

A basic fact about how the right operates is that they take attacks on women's rights, trans people, immigrants and racialized people etc. deathly seriously, while many liberals and even many leftists dismiss them as 'distractions' or 'culture issues'. Often due to tacit agreement.

Instead they gotta turn to the few of us still holding the line and say shit like “asking people to mask is the real authoritarianism.”

If someone thinks my judgement on a particular issue is flawed, they engage with me on that subject and have the bravery to declare and defend their own position. When someone just doesn’t like my boundaries or just my attitude, that’s when I get called “judgmental.” It’s always a trap.

Crucially, the GLOVE has limitations, chief among them that for the device to work effectively and deliver its restraining pain shock, it must come into contact with the subject's bare skin. According to Compliant Technologies, the gloves won't work through dry clothing or thick hair. The gloves will work, however, if the subject is wearing thin, wet clothing, such as soaked T-shirts or blouses. The GLOVE also does not like being dunked in water and will likely be rendered inoperable if this happens.

If your sons can’t find role models in women, there is no hope for them to grow up into anything more than just the next generation of misogynists. If you can’t teach them women are human the same way they are, you’re failing to raise them as anything more but the beneficiaries of the patriarchy.

So I think it's high time that we get blunter about the fact that feminists' reflexive pushback on a supposed normalisation of heteropessimism (as Seresin's very essay was!) has in fact been co-opted and weaponised against any and all critiques of the heterosexual regime and patriarchy.
. Such is the gospel of heteropessimism, a neologism coined by the academic Asa Seresin in 2019. But don’t believe it.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say it: There has still never been a better time in human history to happily and successfully pursue heterosexuality, if that is your thing, as it is mine.
