Seeing the Bill Watterson originals full of pencil lines of stuff that didn’t work, scuffs the eraser didn’t pick up, white out galore and more was something I needed to see to remind myself that nothing is perfect the first go and tweaks need to be made and you’re allowed to try again.

i've felt like this for a while already but still: i'm honestly tired of so many arguments against gen ai imagery using "haha it looks bad" gen ai is still bad because of it's worst parts: pollution, energy overuse, costs, property theft, and robbing people of livelihoods.

so...many floorboards (and yet...not enough) #todayscraft 🧶

The 1:12 scale model room diorama I am building from the previous post. The subfloors and walls are still the bare plywood and framing, but I've started to lay hand-cut floorboards made from 1/16th inch maple. Half the flooring is done and glued in, but the upper half only has enough boards for half of that (I have more maple being delivered next week). There is a tiny broom and dustpan posed in one corner of the room.

this clip is reminding me how well this film also utilized changes in speed with what was shot for certain effects. sped up live action can easily look too goofy if you're not careful, but the intended effect of it in this sequence to amplify action and violence is so goddamn good.

For the cynics who think it doesn’t matter, that the compensation for authors whose work was stolen will be so low it’s not worth fighting, I personally think it’s worth making the monetary punitive damage these companies suffer as big as possible to deter similar theft in the future.
