There's a sinister trend online (and in person at times) where white people say "I'm a small part Native & racism doesn't happen to me/I'm not offended by X/I think Native ppl are wrong". Not only is it blatantly dishonest, but because we are a small part of the population, they often outnumber us.

I lost my grandfather 7 years ago. It was one of the biggest losses in my life because of what he gave to me, how he saved me. I will never forget seeing his face as he told stories of being tortured in boarding schools for speaking his Native language. It is a pain unlike any other to see that.

I was speaking earlier and told the story of my grandfather who was in a boarding school. One of the parts of the story I always remember is how they forced him to eat steak despite having never had it (he ate venison and mutton at home). He would throw it up & they would keep forcing him to eat it.

I know we're all worn out. I'm just depressed tonight bc I'm working every bit of overtime I can just to break even. Financially & emotionally the summer has been hard on me. Because of all the extra work, my social life has suffered which leads me to further loneliness which means more depression.

I'm longing for a lucky break. This summer has been very difficult, between loss of loved ones, sudden financial issues, & other societal things that have hit me hard. I'm really hoping fall is better. I am persevering, but am also tired. I am strong, but also want to be taken care of for a change.

This new Wildwood movie coming out is strange. It takes place in Portland & the surrounding woodlands. There are soldier-like toys, knights, viking-looking ppl... ...but there is no reference to Indigenous ppl at all? Somehow the local Indigenous population never knew of this enchanted forest?

I get why furries are moving to Seattle after this trip. I don't know if it's for me but I'm happy for people who found a home here. I just feel like I'd miss things about living in less metropolitan areas. I'd feel less connected to my culture too.

I say this as someone who very much thinks people should be allowed to be open about sex and kink etc. The fandom really needs sex-free spaces, including spaces where sex isn't a topic that gets brought up. It's just difficult a lot of the time as a sex-repulsed asexual to try to avoid those topics.
