Name them. The granting of anonymity to "sources" who wish to attack a man with a disability who is currently ill is journalistically and morally reprehensible, and it is frankly disgusting that the Irish Examiner - a paper I otherwise hold in very high esteem - would allow it.

Just as fossil fuel companies and their cronies sow doubt about scientific knowledge on climate change in order to prevent the development of non-fossil fuel resources, they’re doing the same thing now to climate attribution science to avoid accountability for climate damage. Pay attention!

Not having enough solar radiation is not a problem we have on Earth. Not letting enough energy radiate back to space is why we have global warming.

More than half of Palestinians denied long-term visas
It's just a quarter for other nationalities.

This summer has made it abundantly clear that we need rewetting across all landscapes, varied habitats, firebreaks and a recalibration of what we use water for, and in ireland, a massive growth and restoration of our degraded ecosystems like bog and wet woodlands that are naturally fire resistant

Europe's gas problem is more solvable than the debate suggests. 94% of EU gas demand sits in buildings, industry & power. In all three, electric alternatives are already commercially competitive. Barrier is deployment, not invention. More Sunday - sign up here: janrosenow.substack.com/

When a country like Ireland has had a big budget surplus for many years in a row... the fact that we have a housing crisis AND haven't fully transitioned to renewables for our energy grid etc. is either government incompetence or malicious intent. Other countries have done it with less. #SpeirGorm

The real threat is that this bill will allow for the proliferation of private energy-intensive industries, such as data centres, to run rampant. It’s a scapegoat for the Government not investing in public infrastructure to meet energy and housing demands, let alone climate goals.

If you want energy security, don’t spend €900 million (price has tripled from an estimated €300 million last year) on an emergency reserve that requires €60 million annually to maintain. That’s not a strategic investment in our security; that’s a state burden. 2/

Mr O’Brien said however: “The risk of not having a gas reserve is one that cannot be ignored." Luckily blocked for now. But it needs to be evidently clear that the "Strategic Gas Emergency Reserve Bill” creates more risk than it removes. 1/ www.irishtimes.com/politics/202...

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months" China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.

“However, he said none of this changed his view that the State needed to invest in LNG as a strategic reserve and he did not believe it was a contradictory stance.” Who wants to place their bets on the chances of LNG only being used for “strategic reserve“ or whatever that means.
