Is a more self-aware Trump a good thing? Going out to rallies could teach him that he is toxic, that his policies and behavior are wildly unpopular. But nope, he has no learning curve and will find someone else to blame. At least he is dragging down the rest of the party with him.

The immunity decision is among the very worst, hackiest decisions made by the Roberts Court and that is saying something. Giving anyone immunity is bad, but Trump? Talk about changing permission structures. And the basis of it? Pulled directly from their asses.

i also read his op ed on originalism in the WSJ and i would love to know how presidential criminal immunity emerges from the structure of the constitution, especially when the literal authors of that constitution insisted that a president could he tried and even straight up executed

Really sad to see the Ohio Democrats choose bigotry over winning elections. There’s solid data on this (breezy post-24 commentary isn’t data): transphobia makes Democrats lose. Amy Acton and the ODP are choosing bigotry over flipping Ohio. Really damn sad.

Democrats’ big election wins showed they don’t need to hide their support for trans rights
Republicans repeated Trump's anti-trans strategy from 2024 and lost big. This should be instructive for Democrats.

The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD (content warning: violence) ⬇️

With Orban going down and MAGA appearing to be collapsing in on itself, things were looking up for democracy. AfD winning in Saxony-Anhalt was a setback, but it’s just one German state. Brazil heading for a Bolsonaro restoration really stings. Shows that this global struggle will go for a while.

Just a reminder: Tillis persuaded the woman Hegseth allegedly raped to come forward with her story, and told her that if she did, it would sink the nomination. She did. At great risk to herself. Tillis then cast the deciding vote for Hegseth. Because he’s a goddamned coward.

I gave up begging queer orgs to not rely on Facebook. Too many didn’t care. The ones who ignored the warnings — Facebook systematically censors openly queer accounts — are now facing hard disruptions as a result. These companies are our enemies, not neutral platforms.

One of the biggest consequences of Russia's war will be a changed Germany. It took a long time, but Germany is changing its approach to military force, to intelligence, to the arms industry. The result will be a huge expansion of European military power, firmly directed at Moscow.
