Yes. I think the consensus among US elite pundits and senior politicians that the way to protect liberal democracy is *not* to punish elite figures who violate its rules is wrong. A norm starting at least with the Watergate pardon. The opposite is true. You need to enforce the law and Constitution.

Dear @duckworth.senate.gov when you became a senator you swore an oath to the constitution. Well impeachment is literally in the constitution. Impeachment is your job. So yes, “get back to work.”

Article II, Section 4:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

The Democrats have two articles of impeachment for Hegseth just sitting in the Judiciary Committee waiting to die (HRes 935 & HRes 1109). They both could have been brought to a vote before this. Instead they waited to let someone else do it.

Man, just so tired of spinelessness. 8 members of Congress moved towards impeachment on this most recent vote. Our very first Republican (Massie) took a baby step by voting present. He's also introduced articles of impeachment for Hegseth - those should be coming to a vote this week too
