People sometimes want senior scholars to show their failures, to offset survivor bias. So, here's my thanksgiving eve mistake: shattered Italian clay 9x13 casserole dish.

Batman slaps Robin for using passive voice

Michael Jordan takes the passive voice personally.

Last night, I went to former CDS Wayne Eyre's book launch, so here's my take on the event saideman.blogspot.com/2026/10/reti... It was a pretty good crowd for a Tuesday night ...

Receiving this week's civ-mil memes. The topic this week is mostly autocratic civ-mil with a bit of autogolpe for good measure. This is the winner of the meme of the week.

At an event for a new Canadian War Museum podcast on Afghanistan, the night before the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Very heavy with Canadian nationalism being more complicated this time around, that Canadians died and were hurt for an ally that now is abusing Canada.

Fun to watch an expert on Canadian institutions forget that, yes, American political institutions still matter and that party politics still matters. I posted this in the first term and it applies again here: a Dem Congress can impeach but won't convict

There is no tradeoff--the job of Dems is to be Dems, not to try to appeal to a far, far right GOP. As always, asking a Dem to try to split the difference between GOP and Dem is asking them to move to the far right. Let's not. saideman.blogspot.com/2025/09/prof...

Figure showing that half way to the GOP from the Dems is not the middle of the US policy space.
