I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

Kaiser pharmacist says HIPAA law ensures that they need to verify before they can let me pick up meds for my mom. And yet, HIPAA goes out the window when they make me yell out mom’s details in a busy area — and they can’t hear me clearly through the plastic shield so they make me yell louder!!
