The "Zionism as "Racism" motion passed today was profoundly troubling. To pretend that "Zionism" has a single & uncontested definition was deeply foolish. All nationalisms contain complexities, & to deploy any "ism" in a monolithic way is bound to cause serious problems when it comes...

“I used to think the top global environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse, and climate change. I thought that with thirty years of good science we could address the problems. But I was wrong. The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed, and apathy, and to deal with these we need a spiritual and cultural transformation, and we [lawyers and] scientists don’t know how to do that.” Gus Speth

Incredible scenes as @novaramedia.com’s Michael Walker questions Yvette Cooper over her decision to proscribe direct action group Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation. To date, her policy has led to nearly 4,000 arrests of peaceful protesters under the UK Terrorism Act. (29/09/26)

The UK government ceasing automatically to support almost anything the government of Israel does is a major shift. The next step should be to rescind the ban on #PalestineAction, to stop treating protesters as terrorists, and to acknowledge that those seeking to disrupt a genocide may have a point.

Just 426 people were referred for gender-affirming surgery in Wales last year. This compares to: - 8,213 hip replacements - 7,851 knee surgeries - 25,633 cataracts surgeries Until NHS Wales publishes its reasoning, patients will be left in the dark about the future. It's time for answers.

This is what happens now. Process as punishment. They crack down on protesters by raiding their homes and stealing their stuff before they have been found guilty. It causes massive inconvenience, makes it harder to do things like banking. It's police process as revenge and punishment.

They knew.

For decades climate scientists have said that continuing to burn fossil fuels would lead to both more wildfires and that they would be increasingly severe.

Yet politicians - many of whom are still in public office on large taxpayer salaries- dismissed, scorned and ignored these warnings.

Every bit of new coverage of these fires should be framed as the direct result climate change and political failings. Those who profited by underplaying the danger should be challenged for their complicity in every interview.

Especially those charlatans who, even now, still claim to be on the side of farmers and the poorest in our society - despite enabling a crisis that will hit those groups hardest.

The image includes the quotation below, along with a picture of the "Tangled Roots" book cover:

“As humanity stands on the precipice, facing what might well be the final and ultimate choice – between heaven and hell, peace and war, compassion and destruction, perhaps it is only the deepest form of surrender and the spiritual empowerment and fearlessness that this can bring, which will enable us to make the right choice. It seems clear that without this kind of fundamental transformation, humanity and most other species will not survive.”
